We are still cruising in the 90 degree range during the day with the low in the mid 50's. During my last trip up north I pulled my pump and blew out my water lines. It was hitting 25 for a low and I was running electric heaters in the crawlspace to keep the plumbing  and pump intact. The low there last night was reported at 33 degrees. What a difference a couple hundred miles makes.
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

We have the rise nearly every night and it is common for us to be 10 to 20 degrees warmer in the morning than the little town in the valley below us - line of sight - maybe 2 miles away.

Today is the first time in a week that the morning temps were at 41.  Been in the mid 20's.  But strangely enough it seems colder.  I got chilled to the bone at the cabin.  Different kind of cold.  Been up there all week in the 20's in the morning and never really felt as cold as today.  I should have taken note this morning when I added wood to the fire that it was not drawing the same.  Probably something to do with the barometric pressure or something as they are calling for a front to move in and start snowing.

Currently 69.8 degree outside.

You are getting their heat. Now to harnass it in the wintertime.

We do use some of it - in the form of a winter garden.  Plants - food - winter vegetables are a form of solar storage. :)

I know. des...I need to do better than that...

Gotta get it into your ductwork. I don't think cabbage is a good option for that.

Cabbage will certainly come out of my ductwork. [crz]

Homegrown, you'll be happy to know that it is 70 degrees at 0900 & Glenn's eating bare  :o right now.

BTW, Desdawg, we do have Glenn's "passive/agressive" heater for the bedroom, harnessing the heat from the greenhouse with solar panels that kick on a fan from an old car that blows the hot air through pvc pipes into the closet & out into the room.

Technically that is incorrect, Homie.  She's pulling your leg a bit.  I do have a pair of her flip flops on, but yeah - it is nice and warm here now. [crz]

Today I had to send DH a "TGWIO" email at work.  I'd checked the weather in our town in Wisconsin, and it was a high of 34 (which I don't think they ever made because in the middle of the afternoon it was only 26 and drizzly/snowy).  Thank God we're in OKLAHOMA.  It was about 70 degrees here today, clear blue sky, DD wore shorts because she said the house was "hot" from me turning on the teakettle in the morning to make tea.   ;D

glenn kangiser

82 here today and 74 tomorrow - then about a week of 66 forecast.

glenn kangiser

Please keep the snow there, John.  Raised our forecast temp today to 78 - currently 68.7 in the shade.

This is what they said

MARLINTON... ELKINS 940 AM EST TUE NOV 18 2008 HERE IS A SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE...

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS RANGED FROM 2 INCHES OVER WESTERN SLOPES AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS... AND 6 TO 18 INCHES OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

MOISTURE COMING FROM LAKE ERIE UNDER NORTH TO NORTHWEST FLOW WILL KEEP UPSLOPE SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH TONIGHT. ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH TONIGHT... HIGHEST IN POCAHONTAS AND RANDOLPH COUNTIES.

But as of now probably 2-3" and starting to melt off some.Temp up to 31F.  Maybe they were wrong or at least part of it.

Pretty nice here. Chilly in the morning but otherwise not too bad. Good weather for cutting firewood. Which I've been doing for the past few days.

Redoverfarm

Well I guess they were right.  Elevation of additional 1500 feet some 22 miles to the west they got 15" overnight.  Elevation does make a difference when determining snowfall amounts I guess.  But I already knew that but hadn't talked to anyone until the afternoon to see exactly what they got on the mountain tops. I guess that is why they put the ski resort on top  d*

Redoverfarm

Temp here now is a balmy 17F. Windchill tonight is -8F.  2" of snow today.

Redoverfarm

32F now and freezing rain.  Expected to change over to snow this evening and throughout the night. Rather have the snow than this freezing rain.

Sassy

69 degrees in the shade right now...   :) it got up to 72 yesterday

Tomorrow night rain predicted - possibly through Sunday - we need it, although Thanksgiving day supposed to be sunny (won't matter to me I'll be down in the dungeon working ER - the unit is in the basement - no windows like in the Underground Cabin)

Make you feel right at home ;D  Sorry you have to work on the Holiday.  For 25 years I never had a holiday or weekend off unless it fell on my days off or I was on vacation.  Now I get them all off. ;)

Thanksgiving here will be rainy or snowy depending on altitude more or less. Here in the burbs it's looking like rain. My mountains look to be getting some snow Thursday; 50% chance. We'll be seeing how much. The winch is mounted.   :D

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
