I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

glenn kangiser

I've been where you are, desdawg.  Way too hot for me.

It's only 84 degrees at 1pm - very unusual for this time of year.  The thunderstorm caused several fires here & there's 100's throughout California.  Yesterday it only got up to 91.  I'm not complaining, I love it - the cooler weather, that is, not the fires...

Another soggy wet day here in the Oklahoma rain forest. Sun is out now and it feels like a suna.

desdawg

108 in the shade and no shade in sight. The AZ desert is a great place in the wintertime when most others are dealing with snow and freezing weather. Right about now we wonder why we are here. Northern AZ would be great now if I could disentangle myself from my responsibilities and just go there and stay for a while. My mind would enjoy it as well as my body.

It could be worse, des.  It could be 110 and raining there -- I have fond memories of Tucson.

Here in the high desert (5500 feet) today...
currently 91, partly cloudy
overnight low in mid 60's
forecast for the next couple days, 92 - 94
then cloudy, high 80's low 90's with 30% chance of rain

The Mountains (8800 feet and 36 miles north) where we'll be back about Sunday or so...
currently 78 and partly cloudy
overnight low probably low to mid 50's

the mountains usually run 15 - 20 degrees cooler and cool off faster than here
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

desdawg

Your desert is cooler than mine Don. We are back to 107 for a high today. 92 up north where I would like to be.
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

MountainDon

I believe the key there is the altitude. The driveway here is a tad under 5500 feet.

It seems to get anything done here it has to be in the AM hours for hard work.  For the past couple of days sunrise was at 43-46F then by afternoon it was in the early 80's. Almost 40 degree change in 6 hours.

glenn kangiser

Fires are getting better around here - not so much smoke... 1459 fires in California now.

I got up this morning and the AC wasn't running. It rained last night and cooled things off. I guess the desert monsoon season has arrived.

Cooling down to 103 today with a cold snap of 98 coming tomorrow. d*

Not bad today in mid 70's. Slight rain shower.  Here is what I have to look forward to the rest of the week.

I cannot do that kind of heat.  I'm running for cover at 80F.  It would t ake a period of acclimating I'm sure.  I lived in the LA area for about 3 years, and when I came back to Oregon, 'bout froze to death.

That being said, after 30+ consecutive years in the NW I would not willingly go back to that kind of heat.

High today will be about 65F High over cast. Great working weather for me!

glenn kangiser

...but depressing for me.

It's a dry heat --- yeah right.  It does sap your energy.  I always look forward to finishing what I am doing and jumping into the truck and turning on the A/C.

To explain the weather here today, I really wanted to take a picture, but I missed the Kodak moment by a few seconds.  When I got the camera all ready, Grover stood up and came to the back door to greet me, all dripping wet.  Seconds before, he'd been laying sprawled out in the girls' wading pool with his head hanging back over the side... all he needed was sunglasses for it to be the perfect greeting card shot.  His black fur absorbs the heat like crazy, and so he spent most of the day lounging around in the pool, which he loves.  It was really hot and sticky, to say the least.
