Freezy before the rain - going to 21 tonight.  Broke stuff already last night at about 26f.

Wretched, 5-8 more inches tonight, with winds at 35 - 35 mph, then another 1-2" tomorrow with winds gusting to 50, then into the deep freeze with -9 below tomorrow night with wind chills of -30. Sure does put a damper on construction. Guess there'll be no roofing this weekend.

Currently 23F and windy gust from the WNW at 40 MPH.  Tonight will be around 7F with a high tomarrow of 28F.  Today it was 27F at Dogtrot with about the same winds the only difference is I was outside the majority of the day installing the gas line and setting the propane tank  :)  The power is back on so life is good. ;D

Wha Hoo!   No fun being a Redovercicle.

It's ya'll's turn now.  We're starting to warm up. It's 36 right now and the low will only be 29.  Whew, that was a long cold one.

Highs are supposed to be 40-42 in the next few days with lows in the mid 20's....nobody's mentioned snow for here, but this transition time is when we usually get some.

Redoverfarm

When I get done with it I'm sending it back.

Nooooooooo!   We have a steady stream of these from the North and the West all winter, no mulligans! [shocked]

Redoverfarm

Well it was 9F yesterday morning and 30F this morning.  Go figure.  But this morning it started raining and FREEZING.   [yuk]

Rain, rain, rain, rain, after the snow.  Currently 40f and looking like the barometer is going up but still 80% for showers - then better tomorrow.  One more storm Wednesday they are calling for.

It has been so unseasonably cold here.  Several nights dipped below zero.  Here near Boise we just don't get that cold especially this early.  Dang good thing we are having Al Gore's global warming or this would be bad.  But it is starting to brake up now as the wind has shifted and the warm California air flows are starting to make their way into the Great Basin.

Glenn looks like you are sending some rain / snow up this way.  Thanks the ski resorts and ski areas really need it.  Up where our ranch is at it has been below zero at night and warming to a balmy mid twenties.  Really not a lot of difference there and the valley that is strange.   ???

Yes we can blame all that we have had on Glenn as well.  It started there and swept eastward.  When I get done with it I will send it back. ;D

glenn kangiser

Well, put on your galoshes because I think I am sending you a bunch of rain next... [waiting]

No guarantee that it won't freeze before you get it though.   Nearly 4 inches since the tenth I think - maybe more here on the mountain.

More snow in the mountains, maybe 5 - 6 inches around our place and double that up by NM_Shooters.

Snow, then rain last night.  This AM there is a sheet of slushy ice frozen on the ground.

I sure hope they are wrong about the weather this weekend. Prediction is 12-18" of snow starting tonight.  I have to make a little trip this morning to Elkins and I plan to pick up 4 new tires for the 4-wheeler while I am there.  But with that much snow I willl probably end up using the tractor.

Redoverfarm

I guess the forecast was correct and it has begun.  It started at about 3PM and now we have 2" on the ground.  I picked up the new 4-wheeler tires and we are ready.  It's starting to look alot like Christmas.

Without the flash

With the flash.  The snow flurries show up a lot better.  The winter causes a reduction in sunlight hours but with a weather front it really starts getting dark earlier.

:D In Valdez, Alaska where I lived for nine years before returning to Anchorage, they just got 69" in 36 hours and 4.8" in one hour-----neither is a record. The snow there has to experienced to believe it but they have the world's greatest snow removal staff and methods. Average snowfall is 330" per year---record year was 1989 when 47 feet came down.

rwanders this is nothing compaired to Alaska but for here it is not that often.  Woke up to 12-15" of snow this morning.  The worst part  is that it is continued snowing all night.  Without going outside (later) this is what we woke up to looking from the house.  Notice the accumulation on the truck tailgate (down) in comparison to the top of the bed.

Basement entrance.  There with the small drift under the 2nd story eve it is close to 17"

And yes there is a 500 gallon propane tank someplace under there.

Should have the makings of some nice pictures once day break happens.

We have a little better than a foot here in the flatlands now. I expect about what John has at the farm.

It's  still snowing and I need to get out and remove some from the shop roof. I also have to plug in the heat tape if I can find it.

I'll get pictures but showing them may be an issue until I figure out why my photo album is acting up.

We're expecting wind later so power will go out and I can watch the soccer moms panic. I have plenty of backup generation and split enough wood yesterday to last a week.

Once it got daylight this is what we saw. It was 20" then.

Digging out

By the time we got finished which was about 1:30 we had already accumulated an additional 4 " which put the total to 24".  As of the time of this post it is finally slacking up and very light flurries.

Pictures around the farm

Here is a picture of the State Route (92) that runs in front of the house.

Somehow the snow always looks prettier when it's on someone else, vehicles/roads/sidewalks.    ;D

Great pictures!  Snowfalls like that are difficult when your area is not used to handling them---I always really look forward to the first big snow fall of the year-----and even more so to the last one! :)

Don't know if you can see them, but a couple of early pictures.
