We are near Yosemite at 3000 feet so we get a couple a year.

Yup -- you got the place right, Mark.  That's what we do here.  Would you like me to post a pix of me in my Speedo swim trunks? hmm rofl
How about just one of Newport Beach that will do. I haven't been there in 24 years it might have changed a little? Mark

Temp hasn't risen above 23F. Windy with flurries.  It's amazing what effect the wind has.  I have been working outside in the same temps without wind lately.  If you keep moving you are OK. Today I almost froze with the wind.  Quit earlier than normal when I couldn't feel my finger or was it my toes. Maybe my brain also.

Sassy

this is what we woke up to this morning - snowing like crazy again!

I took my picture earlier but was very careful how I composed it as I was afraid Sassy would give me a bad time about showing junk in the yard.  Little did I know that the snow would cover it. d*  That's what she told me.  [noidea'

What was I thinking?  hmm

Anyway -- she wanted to compare mine to hers --- and a couple more. :)

I still had my slippers on  c* and I wanted to see if there was a lot of difference in his camera compared to mine - his is a better one although he paid less for it through a deal on the internet - he breaks too many cameras so he has to get good deals on them  d*

BTW, its still snowing...

I was there about 12 or so years ago -- sons girlfriends place.  Yes -- good scenery.

Sorry John -- I was just kidding.  Terrible word picture, eh?  You used the V word, John but I see I did too.  Yes -- we are on the ridge and can see for probably a hundred miles or more on a clear day.  Close up is the valley below about a mile to 3 miles as the crow flies - 3 to 7 or so by road.  Looking that direction is our other house, about 75 road miles.  We could probably see it if it was possible.  Toward the WNW is our longest view --to the mountain range just this side of the bay area. The mountains this side of San Jose and South Bay.

Still dam cold here, but slowly melting, as this picture shows. This is the backside of my chicken palace. Way underbuilt too! I had not planned on such a snow load.

We just make smowmen here in Minnesota.  No fancy schmantzy snow sculptures for us. :o

Nice snow pics all.
A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work any day, but building something with your own hands beats anything.

MountainDon

Cool how the snow curls and folds like that.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Ha!  Great picture MaineRhino!  I wondered where they got the inspiration for that fancy Christmas candy!   :D

Rain * 10^3 here today.  It trapped my dad at our house for the weekend.  I won't make him trench today.

That curl of snow looks just like a Christmas ribbon candy.

Funny, I missed Drew's post and didn't read it until after I'd posted mine... guess great minds think alike.  Guess what?  They're predicting that we'll be above freezing on Sunday.  Do you think if I leave the dog outside the crazy lady will call the cops on me again?  Especially since it is supposed to rain and he may be too dense to go in his house and out of the rain?

Maybe you should call the cops & tell them she is stalking & harassing you guys!  And won't leave the poor dog alone & he's getting a complex  c*

I drove down to the valley - 63 degrees, wind blowing like crazy but felt wonderful!  Kinda balmy like  :)  Now, if the valley could stay nice like that, it wouldn't be so bad to live in, although we don't have the nice mountains to look at... usually the air is to smoggy or foggy to be able to see them  :(

Heat Wave Today, hit +36F. However, I'm getting concerned about the ice in the river (I live on a medium sized piece of the drink). Shouldn't bother me a whole lot, but the folks upstream could get hit with a nasty ice jam. Causes flooding. :(.........Just saw a weather clip from CA........you getting wet Glenn? ???

I went prospecting -- nearly got stuck in 4WD in the Cherokee-- changed my mind and headed up the hill when this one hit.  It's really whippen.

That's why I seldom engage the lockers unless I have. Another good reason to own a winch, and a buch of chain, straps, etc.

I own a winch -- It's not on the Cherokee though. d*

Also -- I would likely have to bury an anchor in that place.  Still would be better than nothing -- and it's not like I dont like to dig. [frus]

The one I have is a 12000 lb'er  Maybe I need to get a more compact one.

Where I went - the mine - was all down hill until the bottom where my trommel pix are.  There it is grass over red clay and really slick.
