Looks like board siding custom made at a mill to look like round logs.  O friend of mine in Utah used to make it.  I'm not sure where you would find it but there used to be fence boards made like that but without the flat piece at the top to lap over.

This type of "log siding" is fairly common here in southcentral and interior Alaska---it is sliced off logs and is usually about 2" thick at the thickest point and has thinner bevels at each edge where you blind nail it in a manner similar to t&g.  It requires finishing and maintenance similar to whole log structures. Fairly often it suffers from the twisting, checking and cracking often seen in round logs too. Nevertheless, many use it to enjoy some of the 'log cabin look" at a much lower cost and also to gain the improved insulation options available through conventional wood framing. It is usually manufactured as a side product by a lot of smaller mills. Look for it through mills in logging areas such as the Northwest and upper Midwest. Log home builders would probably be able to refer you to a supplier. Be careful  about moisture content to minimize cracking and twisting after installation.

My local Home Depot  :o  will special order a variety of patterns in faux log siding.  16 foot lengths start out as 2x6's and they mill the face. They use a modified T&G joint.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I dont know where your from but we have Menards in our area the sell 6,8 and 10' half log. From time to time they do have a sale on it.

That type of siding has been around for a long time in the Midwest.  I've seen it on lots of lake cabins in MN and WI.  It's also available out here in WA.  Recently saw a listing for some in the local want-ads.  Although it is usually installed horizontally, I've also seen it used vertically.  Think if I were going to use some, I would stain it on both sides with a good penetrating oil stain prior to installation.  Because of the log appearance, it looks especially nice on small cabins.

thanks, jr1318,and woodswalker, sorry didn,t respond any earlier, I was busy running away from hurricane gusove live in south louisana, hurricane alley known to us.but was able to buy 1 1/2 ACRES in north louisana, and am going to build a cabin there.but I also just found about a hitch in my giddiup, seems we have beetle infestation and alot of company will not insure their log shipped to the state.so may look into some other type of sideing. What bummer, but live goes on .thanks
