My wife and I decided that we needed a new camera since the one we had was a "point & shoot" that was 9 years old.  The charger had seen it's better days as well.  So we bought a Cannon, Rebel TS3.  It was a bundle deal with standard 18X55 lense and 75X300 telephoto lense.  I am not a professional shutter bug and have just been experimenting with the lenses in the automatic mode.  Here are a few photographs.

Here is one of our barn cats.  Pretty photogenic but she is in the catagory of a "sooner cat".  Sonner eat and sleep than do anything else.   The other cat is the hunter but will not hold still long enough to get captured on film.

Here is the WV verson of "Beefsteak".  Should supply some fine steaks in January.

You're hooked John! ;D

Now you need a post processing program. There are a million of them on the net from free to thousands of dollars. You're camera may have come with one.

And....If I know you, you'll be pulling ahead of the pro's by the first of the year. One day I'm going to have an achieve perfection contest between you and Don. It should be interesting.

These years with the kids go by fast and get harder to remember as time passes.

Canon makes great cameras

I have had 3 (starting with a AE-1 Program 35 mm in 1982) -- they were all good

enjoy !

Yes I have a Cannon T50 35mm as well and have used it since the mid 80's.  But with 35mm being phased out for digital it is becoming harder to find developement of the film.  Yes I guess you could and then put them on a cd but the added expense to be able to publish would be too great nowdays.  I guess I will just have to learn.

Nice photos, and nice camera!

I used a Nikon F4 before I got a Nikon D200 several years back, and I was apprehensive at first but found it was nearly identical in operation to the old film version. I find that I get the best results, and have more fun shooting in manual mode and using the spot meter.

Have fun!

I have a Nikon SLR museum in one of our closets; an FE2, FA, F3HP and an old meterless F from the 60's. Add a hald dozen Nikkor lenses and it all used to be worth a small fortune. Today probably a dollar a pound.

Just a hint John. go into the menu and turn up the saturation and sharp a click at a time. Then focus on the eyes unless you want to accentuate something else.

This is with added Sharpening and deeper saturation across the board.

We just got a canon T2i through a cyber monday deal on Amazon.. $650 w/ a zoom lens. We're photographers and filmographers on a budget, and decided to make the move to HD and consolidate down to one camera. These things are supposed to take great video. We'll see if "Lund Family Productions" starts to look a bit more professional... ::)

..Just need to buy a few more hard drives...  :o

Still experimenting with the camera. I wanted to see how the video portion functioned.  I also caught a couple of shots of my sons HYPER dog.  I think a Australian Blue Heeler is about the most energetic dog that I have ever been around.  Constantly on the go.

I still haven't go this video/picture posting down like Glenn so I will have to do it the old fashion way.  Post a picture and then the video link below.

I have been collecting Hallmark motorized ornaments for the last 18-20 years.  One a year is about my limit.  The newer ones have eliminated the hardwire power cord that plugs into a miniture Christmas tree lights and gone with battery powered ones.  Maybe just as well as I don't think they will plug into the new LED strings.

Here is the 2010 ornament and video.  Just click on the picture.

Would you expect anything less than  Banjo. ;D

Great pictures!  We love heelers, we have two red ones.  You do not seem to see many blues around here anymore.  I think for some reason the blues are a little more hyper than the reds.  Both are wonderful dogs if you have kids, livestock, room to roam.  They so love the people they serve....

John,  for whatever the reason videos hosted on photobucket.com will not embed in the forum topic posts. Youtube and Vimeo seem to embed fine.

???  Don it is a little slower but it does appear doesn't it?  It is for me anyway.

MountainDon

I can view the video in photobucket once I click on the image link here.

If the photobucket videos would embed properly the video could be viewed right here in the forum.

If you look back at this post of yours you will see the video will play right here in the CP forum topic. That youtube video originally had just a link to Youtube in the topic and we all had to click on it to go see it in Youtube. The new forum software allows it show directly here. That is called "embedding".  For some reason the photobucket videos will not do that.

Don I think those were some that the "Photo guru" (Glenn) had reworked for me.  I haven't got that image/video thing together yet.  I will someday hopefully. ;D

MountainDon

No John, those were not edited by Glenn. You edited one of them after the initial post though.

Those videos appeared by "magic".  :)

All the previous Youtube video url's that were pasted into anybodies messages in the old forum now show and play the Youtube video here in the CP forum. Maybe I shouldn't say all of them because there are a few of the Youtube videos that require a different approach. For most Youtube videos though simply copying the URL and pasting in the message here will make that video play in the CP forum topic.   Try it with something you have on Youtube, Just copy & paste. Probably a 99% chance it will play with no more effort than that. Unfortunately it doesn't work on photobucket.

It seems to take the Vimeo Paste also...I think. I can see them anyway.
John, the password on my account is the same. You're welcome to use it.

Yes, Vimeo works  too, although I had an issue with one I tried. Could have been me or something else.  ???

There is actually quite a list of other services that should work, but also some that won't.  I didn't write the code that is behind the magic so I have no idea why.
