at least i dont poop my pants like some writers i know.well not that much.
I knew she'd come around!!!
[rofl2] rofl

Poop? Pants? Moi?...and Sassy thought she knew degeneration when she saw it........
Yes, to quote a Glennism, 'it is a challenge to be married to perfect men'.......
I really think the topic should immediately upgrade to nasal passage extractions.
After a day of garden work, my bride remarks how her nose is so stuffy, then after a little dainty hanky work, shows me what's on it, thinking she has matched or got a one up in regard to my Neanderthal nature. Takes less than a few seconds of trophy hunting, and I've got a miniature gumby hangin'......large enough to carve a figurine....after curing.
The test of acceptable trophy size is being able to hear it land when flicked.
Shall we now discuss poop stain artwork, and creative crotch geographic deptictions....mine being Chile most times, but do have Papau New Guinea in my portfolio...or is it too close to dinner?
I'm enjoying all that I own, the moment.

Yep, I mostly have to do that, too...

I could tell a lot of good stories but then it would definitely be a free-for-all!  So I just let Glenn tell on his own self  ;D

Well.... got the new camera today along with a hard shell case for it and insurance is on the way.  [ouch]

Again... same model as the one I have inadvertently destroyed twice... but the first one was in the line of duty - somehow did it on the job and the second was insured.
Looks like this one is a good one.

I added a guy cable to the small tree at the end of the zipline.  Think it will be tight enough that I should crash into the tree brace at the end.  [noidea'

A few more of the parts for it came in from Amazon.  Should have it ready for a little better testing pretty soon. :)

Garage cat caught her first...that I am aware of... Gopher yesterday.  She was prancing around with it in her mouth trying to meow to me at the same time.  She threw it in the air and had a great time playing with it then, from the looks of her belly, I think she ate it.  [hungry]

This is the first time I have ever seen her catch anything in about the 5 or so years we have had her.  Something killed her brother a couple months ago - probably our dogs, but I didn't catch them so am not sure. >:(

We got her several years ago when we figured we needed more cats to catch the small critters around the area.  A man had her and her brother and said they were outside cats.  When we got them we didn't want to turn them loose until they were used to eating here.  Had to bring them home in a cardboard box in the car.  They were totally traumatized, so we kept them in the house for a few days and that made them even worse.  [noidea'

We lost her for a while in the house, then finally found her and put them both outside .  Took a long time to pet them after that but they eventually got better and wanted attention when they could get it.  Now she is here alone but doing pretty well.

glenn kangiser

We currently have 3 left plus a couple stray neighbor cats once in a while, but you never know...we appreciate the offer....  :)

We were losing quite a few for a while.

OK... now for a bit of excitement.... [noidea'

I had a problem or two with the new camera but it seems that it was only the contacts on the SD card were dirty.  Seems all better now.

So... for your viewing pleasure in HD Stereo...... Crazy Dude on a cable.....  [scared]

See my comments left on youtube.  rofl

He's a big kid now.  [cool]

[rofl2]  Thanks, Ben.

I guess I resemble that....

That big tree has to go though.  It is in an area that shades the garden too much anyway, so I was already going to remove a few of the trees there.  :)

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

glenn kangiser

It is a pretty good little thrill, Don.

I just finished taking the tree out that was about 2 feet to the side.  In researching this on the net, I saw a guy get twisted on the trolley and smack a tree good.  [ouch]

I figure there will be others wanting to try it out so I have to make it safe for them at least.  :)

Cowboy Billy

Way too cool Glenn

I'm ready to take it for a ride!

Billy

glenn kangiser

Well, Billy, Hop on ol' Paint and mosey on over here.  :)

If you make it this way we'll give it a try... if you don't I can tell you what I have learned so you can build your own.

It is quite a thrill.  I am finding that most of the back yard ones people build are 60 to 150 feet with a lot of the kits being 250 feet of cable in them.  I think piecing it together is probably a lot cheaper than the kits.

A caution... do testing safely in steps or with a dummy weight ... (not talking about myself here).  Especially if you get the Speed trolley like I did, you could really slam into the ground hard breaking all kinds of things.  Well set up ones are safe, but I find ones thoughtlessly set up have had accidents.  Heavier people can slam into the ground where all of the light ones were flying high.  This also means that some could slam the end hard while others do not, hence the need for the good brake or gravity stop (best set up) and no thought needed on the part of the user.    [noidea'

I don't recommend the ones you hang on to with your hands- and no seat.  If allowing outsiders to try it, it has to be totally safe with no way to break or lose them.  Training and a good disclaimer are in order.  An active brake or gravity stop are necessary.  I have seen catchers miss, so the brakes must do the work for the rider - no thought required.  [ouch]

mgramann

I love the zip-line Glenn!  My family sets one up over the deep section of a trout stream here in WI.  The entertainment makes the ice-cold water much more bearable!

glenn kangiser

Thanks for the comment, mgramann.  My moms family is from WI.

I worked on it some more and got the bungee stop on it - for those trips that are just a bit too fast.  It also uses a bit of the gravity stop but as I tighten the cable to keep from hitting the ground, I get less gravity stop. [ouch]

We did a couple more videos today as I tested out the bungee stop and now the tree is out of the way.  I won't jamb my ankle up to my crotch on that tree at least now.  Got a bit of good firewood too.

Possibly you could not see what happened at the far end on that one.  I will try to do better later.... [waiting]

Maybe wrap a mattress around that final tree.   ???

Plaenty of time to get it sorted out and working by next summer when we hope to come and bother you.   ;D

glenn kangiser

Come on in, Don.... the water's fine.  :)

I am going to readjust the bungee.  I left it a bit too loose as I was not expecting it to go that fast.  As the cable gets tighter it goes faster, but I don't hit the ground as hard.... [waiting]

glenn kangiser

Wait a minute there, TT... do you mean by laughing at me.....[noidea'

OH Yeah... almost forgot... measured the zip line and it is about 175 feet long.  I didn't know as I just took a bunch of cable out there and strung it up... [ouch]

Yup you are finally getting it Glenn  8)

glenn kangiser

[noidea'   I jus' can't get no respect......

:)

Well as you might have noted in the last video I had a camera strapped onto my wrist with plant  tying tape.  The second time I tried that it came out pretty good, so you get to see what I saw going down the zipline.

On a good note.... I didn't break the camera, my leg, or even get hurt..... yea..... [waiting]

Here is a shot of the bungee stopper I had to adjust after that ride.  I left it a bit long and nearly went into the tree but under the limbs before stopping.  [scared]

I cut an approximately 4 inch diameter Oak limb about 8 inches long and drilled a 5/8 hole through in lengthwise.  I then cut it in half through the lengthwise hole, drilled a couple more holes to put it back together with a half inch bolt and 1/2 inch bolt with an eye welded to it.   The eyebolt needs to come off about a third of the way from the trolley contact end.

The trolley hits the block - stretches the bungee and if adjusted right you stop before going up into the tree.... [waiting]

Here is a shot of the tree attachment on the low end.

There you can see the brace (may experiment with removing it now that the guy line is in), the guy line going to another tree, and the zip-line as well as the protection blocks.  The guy-line came out on a limb swelling bump so I did not add blocks - no room anyway.  The strap is salvaged from a job and fit the tree well at this point.  It was to support 4 inch fire sprinkler line.  :)
