You can bet there was a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on before he went on the air to tell the nation. Over an hour late from the "appointed" time for the address. This allowed all the tv reporters to get enough speculation going and then he rolled right in and set it straight. I
t was an awesome job our military did!
At least he did not botch this opportunity to get bin Laden.
President Bush will get the blame for the mechanical failure of the chopper.
I am glad that he did not apologize for the military's part in bin Laden's death and it was comforting to know that his body was prepared for burial, with a couple of flying ashtrays to the head.

   There will always be nay-sayers for every incident . . .     My question is why this and why now?

   Was it to rally the "troops"?   Take our mind off the economy?   Re-election motivated?   Etc . . .

The government propaganda machine counts on the idea that about 90% will believe whatever they say without looking farther or questioning them....hey...this is America...We Are The Champions....

...but for those of us who can step down off of the pedestal...we can see things as they are....

....and I can admit when I have made a gross error in judgement.  I stand corrected.  Thanks for humbling me, Windpower.  I did not think they would actually release the video of the actual assassination because I did not believe it was real....I was thinking ...lies....more lies....

Well I am not sure, Glenn. I watched the assassination video again again and I think that it may well be a fake --take note of the clashing colors in the outfits of the 2 young women at the end.

Windpower & Glenn, how can you prove your theories about a govt hoax about Osama's death are not really part of an elaborate hoax by you and other agents of a vast conspiracy  to cover up or spread disinformation about the truth?  It's suspicious that you always throw up smokescreens of allegations that you are never able to back up with actual evidence that can be verified. Have any of your previous explanations of the "real truth" ever been confirmed by subsequent disclosures? You both seem, to me at least, to be obsessed with pretending to be "one of the few who know the real story". Either you both are uncanny in your detective abilities and sources or they are simply manifestations of personality disorders better described by clinical psychologists. If the former is the truth, we can dispense with investigations of events and just call on you guys an hour or so after an event and voila----the real truth is revealed, the guilty parties identified, and we'll save a lot of money and time.

Or maybe you both just enjoy spinning your theories to get a rise out of rational people. If that is the case, we can all relax and enjoy your fairy tales and share in the laughs together.

Sassy, that is a good article from a source I generally trust.

It shows that there was never an intention to take him alive, which I had suspected.  It would have been a legal and political nightmare.  I generally believe official stories are not accurate, but not far off.  The best lies are filled with bits of truth.

The presstv article I generally distrust.  It is the Iranian government owned propaganda.  Osama was a symbolic figure head for resistance to the U.S. throughout many parts of the world, which plays heavily into Iranian Government interests.  As long as people want to believe he is alive, he will be to them.  Remember Elvis and Michael Jackson are still alive if you ask people that believed in them. 

What I find interesting is the backlash at the Pakistani Government.  First they tried to falsely take credit.  Then there was a giant backlash for letting the U.S. come in and kill him.  Everyone seems to have known where he was for a long time.

...Oh, yeah... except the Jessica Lynch hero thing... she refuted that and said they were totally lying, but then again, she is one of us and not believable..

All in all I think the whole mission was well done

Dead - yep best way to deal with him, armed or non armed, if he had been taken alive, the court cases would have cost billions

Disposal of the body at sea, another good idea, short term fall out but no long term issues

Only issue was - leaving behind half a stealth copter (which don't exist)

Considering that over 60 million people died in WW II,  it's hard to see how that's possible.

I do love the floating flip flop photo though.  Something satisfying about OBL being reduced to nothing more that fish food.
