:) We have a partial foundation! The footings were poured last week and the foundation walls should be done any day.
Our project is a 20x36 one-story house with a 14x20 addition. We are going with a 10/12 pitch. My husband and his brother are doing all the work themselves. I will post our plans as soon as I figure out how to.

Every journey begins with a single step. Congratulations, sounds like you are on your way.
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

Sounds great, deertracks.  We've been waiting for this. :)

Foundation is complete and first lumber load is paid for and arrives on Monday.
I'll be at the site next week and will post pictures and floor plans. We had a hard
time finding single story construction to view here on countryplans. Hope our project
will be of help to others looking to go that direction.
We actually purchased John's 1.5 story plans, but after many changes on our
sloped site we ended up with single story. I saved every version of floor plan change.
We ended up going with version #25. At one time we even had a daylight basement.
Very glad we didn't end up going that way, as the county now requires special soil testing
for basements in the area. We have lots of clay.

deertracks

Help please.....Having problems trying to post my plans. They are in 3D HA ver. 3.0
THANKS!

Get Gadwin Printscreen - free - then bring the plan up onscreen, printscreen to file- jpeg  - then put in Photobucket or post here direct to box below on message composing page.

Will do....
Thanks Glenn!
We now have framed walls standing and the window order arrived today with a small,
but fixable glitch. :)

glenn kangiser

My pleasure.  Looking forward to seeing them.

Just added my floorplans to the photos. These were not the final floorplans. Windows were changed, but the
footprint size and most details are correct.
Sorry the photos are not in order.... just learning photobucket.

We now have framed walls, but will not be able to post those pics until mid-July.

Deertracks:

Looking good. :) If you want to send me the files you did in 3DHA, I can print out a larger more readable floorplan for the forum, and, if you are willing, make the plan available to others for their own project or modification.

Just attach all the pl? files to an email. (There may be three - PL0, PL1, PL2.)

Cool on the Photobucket stuff deertracks -- you went high tech on me.  I haven't used that feature yet. :-?

I think I'm air sick  ;D  Nice job  ;)
When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .

deertracks

Not all that high PEG...
Just 1800 feet.

Rafters are going up this week.
Here are a couple pictures showing the sheathed walls.

It was a attempt at humor about the panning in on your photo album. Guess it wasn't obvious enought :-/

G/L with those rafters ,  lookin good , PEG

BTW whats that little access hole for in the foundation? To small to crawl thru , or so it appears  :-/

deertracks

Yea.... I know what you mean about that slide show.
I'm not real savvy with Photobucket so I picked slide show,
not knowing that it would have the "airsick" feature while
changing photos.

The hole is for a vent. Crawl hole is on the other side.

glenn kangiser

I thought you were a pro using that slideshow feature so I had to go try it out -- hadn't used it.  I think its pretty cool. :)

That is a nice fade-out feature, but just when you are focusing on
the photo it fades to the next!
I've emailed my floorplans to John, but they lost details
while traveling through cyberspace... don't you just hate when that happens!
Here's another picture. This is the view from the patio door to the deck.
Kitchen area will start just to the right.

Nice work Deertracks.

When you load those big images into the forum as attachments it slows down the pages and adds to our overhead. When you link to an image at Photobucket the images are external and served to viewers as they need them not using forum bandwidth.

Here is the link to the floorplan image from your Photobucket image (just copy the URL and drop it into the brackets formed by the IMG icon (top row, third from the left).

This floorplan image did not come out well as a jpg

This image does not use any forum space. More info on how to do this is here: http://www.countryplans.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1146802581

Our project will be getting roof sheathing this week.
Haven't posted anymore photos. Still trying to figure out how to do it without causing problems.

glenn kangiser

Just start a Photobucket free account.  It will upload the files to their computer then at the bottom will be a file name beginniong in IMG under the picture.  Copy that line and paste it into your message where you want the photo to show.  That way they store the photo and it shows up here so it diesn't use John's space.  In that case you don't put the file in the little box below that says browse.  Just put the Photobucket tag in the message as you compose it.  It also allows you to put lots of pictures in that way -- the browse box only allows one.

More info in the Forum News section.  http://www.countryplans.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1115032671

DT:

I resized some of your images to 800 pixels wide and reposted them at Photobucket as Glenn suggests. They are easier to view when they don't scroll of the screen.

If you want me to post the 3DHA floorplan for your project, try this. Export the floorplan image as a Windows Metafile (WMF - File, export). Send it to me as an email attachment and I will convert it to a jpg and post to Photobucket as I have the test floorplan below.

This is an experiment trying to model a house with two shed roofs.

deertracks

Great... I'll just post them to a new Photobucket account.
Hopefully I can make it a file that just shows still photos.
It's real hard to view a building project while it's moving!!!
Our roof sheathing has started and I have to throw in a few extra prayers
each day for the guys hanging off that 10/12 pitch.
It will be a happy day when the last shingle is up.
I'm looking for ideas on lighting. We have open beam in the great room
which is the living/kitchen (20' wide by about 24' long).
The beams run every 4 feet and we are planning two ceiling fans for
air movement and overhead light.
Anybody have creative lighting ideas off beams??

Here are the new photos.....

more to come at the end of the month.... with roof (hopefully).

Boy, Deertracks - it looks really nice - I can't wait to see what it looks like with the roof on... ::)
