I normally don't play music while online, my mind wanders too much. But tonight I'm vegging mostly with my head cold. I'm playing a mix of vintage and new Levon Helm.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

windpower, awesome links.  Enjoyed them all.

Since you posted up a "somewhere over the rainbow", I'll post my favorite rendition of that song as well.  It's from Eva Cassidy.

Thanks Windpower for Tommy Emmmanuel.  He like Chet Adkins and Les Paul were and Eric Clapton is they just do not play guitar they go somewhere else with it.   When you hear it you know it.

While I never was into Motown recordings when I was younger.  Every once in a while, about once a week I have to sit down and listen to these tracks by Joan Osborne and the Funk Brothers.  Thank God they got those guys back together for that one last big gig.  More have passed now.  How they feed off each other, you see the glances and the grins.  YAA!! Baby we still got it!!

I had an old friend that past a couple of years ago Ernie Hagar he was like those above only with a steel.

We down at work just loved this guy.  (He was a contract driver that deadheaded or transported us to places.)  Oh the stories he could and would tell.  He said when they broke the studio musicians up, it killed it for him.  He just could not do it any more.

He would get tracks in the mail, then he would drive down to the studio.  Give the engineer the tracts, set up.  He would lay down his, pack up.  On the way out he would pick up his copies, then mail them off.  You could just hear the disdain and hate in his voice of his once beloved industry.  In the studio he play for or toured with every one from Sinatra to Willie Nelson, The Sons of the Pioneers to Johnny Cash.  He would explain over and over when you had everyone there, there was magic in the air you fed off each other.  When you see the Funk Brothers there and Joan Osborne you felt it.  No wonder the music industry is not what it was.

PS I seem to have to sit down one a week also with Doc Watson.... Alison Krauss.... the Highwaymen.... Thanks Youtube you keep part of America there.

I do like this song, but am posting the video as about 90% of it was pictures taken within 10 miles from muldoon, tx.  I recognize Lake Fayette - great bass lake and good swimming hole, I recognise the HEB from La Grange thats 9 miles away, I recognize the ridge that crests above the colorado rover up at Krietzes brewery landmark, this video is home to me.

The beach pictures are likely Victoria or Matagorda bay, about an hours drive.

Grace Potter.

Best thing to happen to music in a long time.  Her range is exceptional.  She had the brains to put together a band that plays music too.

Tommy Emmanuel truly is a one man orchestra....no doubt.

A couple of other masters......Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins:

I had the pleasure of seeing Atkins in concert circa 1975; he used a 335 Gibson and a Gretch Tennesean and some really beat up acoustic. And played with a young man of whom I don't recall his name.........

Thought I would take it down a notch. My 8 year old daughter made her first public debut while playing "Boil that Cabbage".  She was accompanied by her brother who found it very difficult to play at that beginners pace.  I reminded him that he too was once in that chair years ago.
