Stink, I hope I didn't upset you about the ugliness of the dog.  I was just yankin yer chain -- as PEG says. ;D

One thing I did after Peter mentioned the price is look at their contract info.

Quote
Adoption Policies And Procedures

The goal of R.E.D. is to place our companion animals in lifetime, loving homes. Every home and every companion animals has it own unique personality and requirements. We place our animals in the supportive and loving environment of home fostercare. While there, we gain knowledge, about their personality, training skills, likes and dislikes.

To assist us with matching the correct companion animal with the most appropriate and compatable home. Please email us the answers to the below questions and any other information you think would be helpful. The emailed information maybe followed-up by a R.E.D. Adoption Coordinator, with a phone interview and then a homecheck.

Adoption contract and post adoption follow-up checks are required as a condition of adoption. Some companion animals get multiple applicants or are not appropriate matches, so not all adoptions will be approved. Not all applicants will receive a yes or no response due to limited staff. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption without justification.

Note - this is not all of the rules and regs they have mentioned in their contract and various writings I read.  This is a contract and can be used against you in court.

Love the animal, but you gotta hate these power monger P/C jerks.

I love dogs; cats I prefer to have nothing to do with because of allergies.

Most (all?) of these adoption agencies do seem to place more rights on the animals than they do for people, except of course for themselves. They retain all rights in case you tick them off.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

glenn kangiser

They actually retain the right to be able to pull an inspection in your house at any time they see fit per contract.  This is outrageous.

glenn you are just paranoid they are going to report you to the building inspector ;)

glenn kangiser

No need the pets are all chipped so they can be monitored - experimentation for monitoring people - they already know all   :-/   ...and besides -- I'm on Federal patented land -- they have no jurisdiction. :)

That is a beautiful cat.  I am not sure about the contract although I think it might be a good idea.  I gave a horse to a lady I thought I knew pretty well this spring and she said she was going to keep it and train it for search and rescue.  Now this is a pretty good mare, my daughter roade her for years and when I got on her after not riding for five years she was well behaved but already the lady is selling her, now I don't mind the selling part event hough I did giver her away.  If she can get a thousand dollars for her then I say fine at least the person paying is going to take care of her but what i am worried about is when she doesn't get the thousand dollars then what dog food factory?  I am not happy about it, I gave hre the horse withthe understanding that if the horse didn't work out for her she would bring her home.  At the same time as long as she doesn't sell her to the auction or dog food company and finds her a GOOD home I am OK.  But I sure as hell am not giving up any other animals without some sort of written contract.

I do not like the idea of signing anything that gives anyone the right to access my property for any reason. Period!!

That goes for pet adoptions, building permit departments, whatever, whoever!

It's immaterial whether or not one party might make some sort of a report to another entity. It's my property and unless there is a darn good, well founded suspicion that I might be carrying on some illegal activity, nobody has a right to enter my castle property. Not unless I sign the right away. And I'd forgo the pet or whatever to preserve that right.

You could always try drawing a single line through the offending text and see if it gets by them. That's legal for you to do.

When you give something away or sell it your rights end right then and there. I think about the only reasonable condition one could make is to be given first chance to buy back the item if the new owner decided to sell or give it away. I'd probably go for something like that.

We have adopted before via Petfinder. We are no looking to foster care. The contracts are general in nature. We promise not to teach the dog to fight, for example. I would not sign anything saying they can do spot checks afterwards, but if they want to confirm I have a fence no biggie.

Glenn I just spent an hour pouring over the UCC site...Pretty heavy reading man

I love the site...

Like the part where I do not have to sign anything...I can reserve my rights which by law forces the IRS to leave you alone as they are not allowed to deal with constiutional issues

We better be quiet I think I hear black helicopters

benevolance

btw, what do you mean when you say federally patented land?

Mostly to me its just the principle of the thing - I refuse to grovel or sign a contract giving a group like that power over my personal life, therefore I limit my choice of dogs to the free redneck raised ones that come with no contract.

She's not real purdy but she has a great personality.

There are usually lots of choices. :)

She comes from a great bloodline.  These are her cousins, or sisters depending on how you look at it. :o

Their cousin FiFi, moved to Paris (OK -- was sent away to Paris, but the family doesn't like to talk about it, her mom was such a little trollop).

Note - she's not really my dog but I wish she was. :'(

It was given by the Federal government to John C Fremont, to do with as he wished - to sell or give to his heirs and assigns with no other government interference.  I have all of the certified copies back to the original so through chain of title I am one of his assigns--- There is some more paperwork I can do to make my case stronger.

I am just studying on it now -- Mine was famous as it was in the midst of gold mining law creation... but all the land in the US was  gained from a treaty, conquering and taking or some such means -- key is getting to the original patent from the gov. and getting the original wording - usually given to the new owner with no strings to be able to give to his heirs or assigns.  There is a book of patents at our county recorder to be able to check this info.  You can get a certified copy of it from the recorder.  I got certified copies all the way back.

I would say to study the Team Law forum to learn more.  I need to do more of it but have put it into my daily bookmarks so I will remember to get after it in the near future.

Try this    http://www.teamlaw.org/land.htm

Homely dogs need love too, Stink. ::)

Pretty cutesy dogs are many times very shallow and usually so vain. :-/

It is many times very hard to find a dog that is both beautiful and smart too. :)
