Today I'm going to photograph a demonstration by Westboro Baptist Church group. The more research I do for the story, the more I dislike them.

I have to wonder why God takes peaceful people early in life and leaves others whose main goal is to torment others. ???
These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

Good luck, mostly in controlling your temper.

They protested up at our state house over the gay marriage issue.

That is a very dislikable group. The fact that they haven't been harmed by someone is a testament to the civility of their target groups.

I consider any church with a 501 (c)(3) to be a state owned religion.

That should do it.... [waiting]

That was an experience. I'm going to have trouble writing this story because I just can't think of anything printable to say.

There is a surprise though. Wait until I do the photos. A very troubling surprise.

There were only a few of the church people there. there were several hundred counter protesters and they weren't especially civil. I suspect they would have been hurt if the city hadn't had three dozen cops around them.

These are really disgusting people!

There is a scriptual balance in a Christian life. It is hard and I admit that I myself struggle with spirit of the word of God and the legalism of it. It is all a balance.

With that said, as a Christian I should not adhere to worldly views that are not Christian, this is a gray area for some and a struggle.

One of the issue that should be asked to Westboro group is  (I am sure someone might word it better than I) Seeing not all come to God. He did give us free will. What does it accomplish if people have been introduced to God and choose not to take him up on his offer? What good does it do to hold those individual up to Christian doctrine/standard that does not even apply to them? How does your approach win those over FREELY to God when all you do is attempt to FEAR them into a relationship with God, thereby not allowing free will?

I think this is the first question I would ask. I am curious to find out who they think they are addressing.

Here's the unpleasant surprise. How could anyone turn a child into that?

There are no words that can adequately express my feelings for these people.  >:( >:(

Jesus was a Jew. He even taught in the synagouge. He even celebrated Pass Over.

Here's their picket for Richmond's description:

"Virginia Holocaust Museum * 2000 E. Cary St. THIS IS THE DAY you silly Jews had better obey the Lord Jesus Christ. THIS IS THE DAY, yea let Israel say, THIS IS THE DAY that you must OBEY! Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. 14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. Do you know how to read words? Do you know how to look at Antichrist Obama and his hateful black mouth (I'm talking about his mouth - the maw of hell behind those lips?) and listen to this smooth words and KNOW he is That Wicked? If you do not look at your Jewish brethren and feel the shame that Isaiah felt - you are DOOMED! Praise God! AMEN!"

How can people live with so much hate?  The picture of a child in that situation is as much sad as it is disturbing.

peternap,

When they protested here, in Montpelier, VT, there were only about four people from the church. They were very well organized with professional looking signs and they went to the high school for about fifteen minutes, then the state house, and then city hall. The entire thing lasted a couple of hours tops. The people protesting the church were polite and civil. What I realized was the only reason they, the church group, publicized their intentions was to get counter protesters to show up and hopefully be rude while media coverage was present. This didn't happen in Montpelier so the two news vans left after the group was at the state house. Nothing was happening they considered "newsworthy" so they left. This church NEEDS people to be mean to them because it reinforces their contention that everybody is against them. Why else would you put a cute kid out front with a big sign saying "God hates Jews?"

Their church has been bombed twice (at night, while empty). Many people find out when their protests are via their website (godhatesfags.com) so they can go and do everything they can to annoy the hell outta them. I'm certain there would be attacks if it weren't for the fact that there are usually a dozen cops stationed whenever Westboro protests.

I saw a picture a while ago of a Westboro protest.. There were people with HUGE signs standing directly in front of the protesters to block them. Made me laugh.
