I came across this site (www.cottageinaday.com) while flipping through our energy companies quarterly magazine.  Now, they are really pricey, but their have some great ideas for use of space.  I just thought I would share...only as inspiration!

Interesting floor plans. I like the slight angle in the bathroom wall and how it can play off the kitchen island. Adds some interest without being difficult to build. It has a simple shed roof.



A 14x28 cabin that could be built using the Little House plans as the structure.



The same plan expanded with a 14x14 bedroom extension.

I would guess they have used deeper piers and probably a steel beam under the floor system. The Little House foundation is easier and less expensive to build. The Little House plans also have shed roof details.

Yeah, imagine how many little house's you could build for that kind of money!

I just noticed that they are cantilevering the beams over an inside pier on the 14x28 layout. This is the same as I have on the Little House basic plan... but there is a problem there when you want to expand the plan to add the other wing. Note that they have changed the location of the pier and put it at the corner. This is not easy to do after you have built the starter module!

I think I would rather redo the Little House plans for a updated version of something like this if there was interest in a expandable and owner-buildable house about this size.

   I wonder how that pocket door works going from the kitchen area into the bath?  It is an angled wall . . . Maybe the door ends up in the shower . . .

Maybe they have drawn the door at the wrong side and it ends up behind the toilet? But wouldn't there be a vent in that wall somewhere that would block it from opening?

   - Consider moving the bedroom to the other side . . .
   - Seems unnecessary to have an additional 1/2 bath.  Move toilet to exterior wall.
   - Laundry into dining.
   - Hot water heater in bath, with linen above. . .

Sure makes my Amish buillt drop in place shed look like a bargain.  12 x 28 for $5000.
