As my wife quotes me as saying: "I loves me my cast iron"...

We bake a lot of no knead bread in the cast iron. I wanted to get a nice one for the kitchen instead of using the older traditional cast iron dutch oven.

So I bought a 6 quart enameled DO from Lodge. As I look through the manual it clearly states the resin knob is rated to 400 degrees. A lot of artisan breads are baked at 425-450.

I spent 20 minutes at the hardware store looking for a replacement knob per Lodge customer supports suggestion.

Which begs the question - why the hell doesn't Lodge just put on a proper knob to begin with?

Cause this way it shows they have increased sales and they get more money from you.

Money...Money...Money. It's better for you to do the running around and finding a new knob than for them to pay for one that would work from the beginning. It saves them money, not that they'd pass this saving on to you, the consumer, rather they pass these savings on to their shareholders, who obviously need the money far more desperately than you and your wife.

There, that's my rant.

you need a space shuttle tile or two for handles....
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
