Here were are... less than two weeks to Christmas.  I have most of my shopping done.  I was feeling a bit bummed and a bit P.O'd last night as I was finishing up.

Not a single clerk at any store thanked me with a "Merry Christmas" during any of my shopping.

After I pay, I always tell the clerks "Merry Christmas".  Some respond "you too" or "thanks".  Some actually looked startled.  Some just grunt.

I have a new $5 bill in my wallet that I am going to give to the first clerk that wishes me an unprompted "Merry Christmas".

Christmas has always been commercial, but it seems that we have all just sort of given up even trying to make this look like it is not just about the $$$$.

As a kid, I remember not being able to go anywhere in town without being wished a Merry Christmas.   We celebrated Christmas as a community, without fear of stepping on politically sensitive toes.  I am now almost becoming a militant Christmas practitioner.  I have always tended to purposefully do the politically incorrect thing, and this is my sore spot of all sore spots.

Shame on all these bah humbug stores.

Just kidding  :)

Yeah they have kinda ruined it the last few years with all the spend $ hype. Enjoy it your way and be happy.

Merry Christmas, Shooter, and all the rest of you too.  Thank goodness my kids are  too young to know a thing about political correctness.  We went out last night to get a few things and everywhere we went they greeted complete strangers, store clerks, and everyone else with a hearty, almost ear-piercing, "Merry Christmas!"  We finally got around to getting a tree, kind of looks like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree... a bit pitiful and all but the lightest of ornaments would break it's branches.  The kids were thrilled about it, and I was cracking up because it's kind of puny but they don't care.
