Hello Everyone!  Long time lurker first time poster.  I have had a blast checking out all of the different builds and have lost a lot of sleep thinking about what I want to build.  I look forward to asking some questions now that I am official and someday I might even get to build my own place.

Welcome to the forum; lots of good people here.

Now, go get that pad and pencil, and start sketching.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Skagit river is in Washington, on the mainland, across from me.   Is that where you are?

Welcome!

What did you want to build?

HomesteadGuy

Hey all thanks for all the kind welcomes.  I want to build a 20'x30' 1.5 story with a 15 upstairs in order to keep an open feel to the place.  I am used to living in a 2500 sq ft house and I have recently moved into a 1700 sq ft house but I am not into the larger places anymore so I am going the opposite route and going to go for the 900 or so sq ft building and build it as green as possible.  I want to use as many used items as possible and run the place off of solar or wind depending on where we end up in the next couple of years.  As for sketching out floor plans lets just say that I have done a few already :)  I am driving my wife nuts with it considering we can't do anything for another two years.  I have a bit of experience with construction in general as my father was a contractor for most of my life thus far and I have worked as a professional mechanic and a plumber/handyman for a while when I first went back to school.  I like to check out all of you projects so keep the pictures and info coming.  Oh and I am in the greater phoenix  area for now.  If anyone has a place out here let me know so I can check it out if your up to it.
Thanks all
James
