I am new to the site and moving from Alaska to Kentucky to retire. I plan on buying 10 to 80 acrers  and build a rock house using the slip forming type of building. I look forward to learning what I can off the forum and have built small buildings like wood shops and steam houses. I have never built a house but am looking forward to trying my luck. I hunt fish am a gun collector and have lived 30 of the 40 years here in Alaska in the bush. I do have some building skills with dog sleds welding and other things done in remote settings. Kim

w* Back to you.  Sounds like you have been around.  I'm looking forward to your ideas and expertise.  A lot of us hunt, fish and trade and collect guns.  A few of us on here just hang out, some pound a few nails now and then, some of us pound a lot of nails and butcher a lot of wood.  We even pour some concrete a now and then, seen a few spring boxes and septic systems cussed and discussed and installed.

Thank you gents I thought about buying a old back hoe and trailer and would try and hog out my building site and septic. I know dirt work can cost you plenty since if you plan on moving a lot of dirt. The land not for sure I lost out on 4 acres with 18 X 54 ft house built on the land with nice creek for 15.000 cash they where leaving this week and we could not move that fast with the money. It would have been just right for use and was perfect land for what I was planning to do. I want to keep bee,s grow garden fruits  but not to many critters  a few beef cows to butcher but can live off deer meat just as easy. I mix beef & pork fat with my lean meat for burger and smoked meat. I dont know about ponds but stocking ponds with fish sounds fun also. I was planning on running a survival camp for teens to teach woods skills.and programs for slip form rock houses would be great. Kim
