I just bought 40 acres in PG.  Being a total building novice I was wondering if anyone was in that area to hold my hand through the building process.  The only part that gives me the willies is the foundation work.  I am a math retard so trying to get my string level should be interesting..... I would love a mentor!

Hey we'll hold you cyber hand  ;)

The foundation the easy part , or one of them , in fact all the parts are easy . Subcontrator mangement , schduling, as they tend to be late showing up , IMO is the "hardest part".

40 acres is a lot of land  :o You a farmer? Or is it swamp land ?

When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .

I breed thoroughbred horses :)  I need a few acres for the money grubbing theives :)  It is so funny that you say foundation is easy.  I look at all the photos of the digging and the measuring and the leveling and then get dizzzy and fall down :D ;)

I'll be building my place in 100 Mile house, only about 4 hours from you. Can't help you with the foundation though, thats the part of the project I'm worrying about too.

100 mile is gorgeous!  You will love it.  As to the foundation a buddy of mine says it is easy breezy ( ya right) and is laying it out on paper for me.  If the cabin is on a distinct lilt you will know what happened :)

It's OK -- In California cattle country there are a lot of 30 to 40 percent grades in the foothills..  The cows legs grow longer on one side than the other side so they will not tip over on the side hills while grazing.  I'm sure you will adapt in a similar manner. ::)

I went camping at the KOA there in Prince George, it was 1995. During that camping trip (was on the way to Alaska) A bear decided to eat a camper in the camp ground. Something about the man itching his tent in the right paid for camping spot, however a bear made a kill a few feet over with a moose.

Yup there are ZILLIONS of bears in PG.  Both varieties too!  The cabin will definatley have electric fence around it.

Glenn, hopefully all I will need to do is get shoes with different heel heights.  I tend to tip over after a few anyhow so I'm used to falling down  ;)
