I may need to buy some scaffolding to finish my sheathing and siding on the gable ends of my cabin.  Does anyone know a decent place to buy?  Renting here, if I remember correctly is $24 per month per section.  I think I may be able to get by with 4 sections.  I will probably need it to finish the inside too.  Not sure how long It will take so that's why I'm considering buying.  I only get to work on weekends so it will sit unused 5 days a week.

Cornerstone Building Materials offers some real good, high quality aluminum scaffolding and will ship to your door step (cbmscafffold.com).

Have used steel before and the aluminum is so much easier to move and set up.  One person can handle a three story set up...

I see used scaffolding on craigslist all the time. I bought my 3 stages pretty cheap, and I figure to get about the same price when I sell them.

I'm not poor- I'm financially underpowered.

Danfish,
They look like they have some very good prices.  $128.00 per 5x5x7 section (masonry) and I think they are steel.  If the quality is good that's a pretty good price.  I've never seen aluminum used in scaffolding.  Is that pretty common?

Thanks

Mine I bought it all off Craiglist.  Four high and the plank and the standoffs for about $200 from a guy that was going out of the Stucco business a couple years ago.  Best thing I bought from him were some painters a-frame stands.  They are so handy and about four foot tall when spread out.  You just toss your planks on top or through the ladders what ever is the right height.  They are light weight and easy to move and get around on.

Me too---bought, then sold, mine on Craigslist.  Net cost was zero.

Yep,craigslist 100 bucks a section just used 2x12s screwed together for planks but be aware if you buy from different people there are different sizes and pipe diameters and crossbrace lengths

I have some I was given, bought some from another contractor going out of business and bought 4 sets from the rental yard. I worked for one gentleman who had enough to surround his house 3 sets high that he pulled out of the trash on a big construction site, it was all damaged in one way or another but he was a good welder... lucky day for him!

I always read about these great craigslist bargains but I have not been able to find them.

Grover try to get convientional scaffolding rather than mason scaffolding.  You are limited with heigth adjustment w/mason. I found it hard to make graduated heigth adjustments in comparison to regular scaffolding.   Also be careful if you do go with mason as if it was used a good bit the legs tend to get sprung out of adjustment to line up because of the continued weight of brick and block.  I like a 5' high scaffolding but 4' is OK just takes more to get to where you are going.  Also some of the lesser sizes do not line up or have to be matched course for course to keep walkboards level.

Around here a new set of medium weight will sell for about $200.

 Another one for the mix, I've used them for missing parts but they also have it all;

I ordered today from scaffoldmart.  Their website sold me on their product and the price was right.  Shipping is a killer though.
