... but Discount Tire still fixes flat tires for free!

I had a tire go down slowly. Discovered a 16D box nail in the tread. Looks like one of mine but I can't be certain. I may have picked it up at the landfill a week or so ago when I hauled off some debris and trash.

But it's nixe to know Discount Tire still fixes flats free, even if you bought the tire elsewhere. And they don't just stick a plug and some glue in the hole, they dismount the tire and apply a patch inside. In at 8 and out 20 minutes later.   :)
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I agree... good customer service.  I have found that I buy most of my tires from them because of it.  They also treat customers well.  If they see me coming they meet me at my tailgate and unload my tire for me, and I never have to get the door myself whenever I'm with a sales person and we are going through the door.

Even if the tires cost a bit more at their shop (rarely) I still purchase my tires there whenever possible.  I think I have bought 18 or 20 tires over the last 5 years and all but one trailer tire came from them.

They seem old school, and I like it.

That is good to know. The company I have worked at for 23 years makes tires for Discount Tire (Cooper Tire). We seldom hear much of the good stuff, I sure didn't know they provide flat fixing for free. They may be the only chain that does this? Thanks MD for posting this.

Les Schwabe in the Northwest has a similar policy....and good tires.

Les Schwab here is that way as well.  One motto they have is "Home to Sudden  Service."  You pull into the parking lot and they meet you.  The guys in the back are at a trot all the time.  No customers they grab a broom and start sweeping and restocking.  This does not go unnoticed, they are always looking for the cream and they are promoted and rewarded.

They have a very aggressive credit program.  Most if not all have a front end alignment bay or two with a pretty aggressive to over aggressive  marketing there as far as I am concerned.  I had the wife's Charger in there the other day.  Guy I never seen before came out and said her car could be in need of front end work.  Shocks and some bushings and yada, yada and handed me a print out of sorts.  Then he looked at that and told me double that because that was just one side.  I asked him how he evidenced this.  It was not on a rack, were the shocks leaking?  Please explain.  The guy more or less said he based this on age and miles.  I said I would take his estimate and go to my regular front end guy.  He could take a look at it.  The store manager was standing there and we talking tires for my pick up.  He was having a hard time keeping a straight face.  He knew I was not the type that would bite on that lure.

Strange they got hit with a reverse discrimination lawsuit about fifteen years ago.  Company policy was always 'flats fixed free for the ladies'.  Someone sued them as this being discriminatory.  I notice they went back to free flat repair now 'unisex'.
