Here's a link to a list of national organizations, well known or celebrity personnas, journalists and corporations who have officially endorsed anti gun positions.

Too bad there's not a list of those who endorse pro gun positions. The only person who comes to my mind is Ted "Motor-City Madman" Nugent.          He happens to have a new book out...

Whitlock

Hardly a ploy Sassy.Nobody is going to go out and get a concealed weapons permit just to carry in the national parks.
If this law was in place maybe Cary Stayner would of tought twice about killing those girls in Yosemite.
Or better yet maybe one of them would of shot the basterd >:(

No, she's right. The National Park issue started in Va and VCDL began the petition to change it.
Here a CHP is as easy as taking a hunter safety class an paying 50.00 to the court. We are a shall issue state. The special perks to permit holders is starting to divide our pro 2end groups....which is bad

Like I said before nobody is going to go out and get a CHP just to carry in the NP's.It is just to much trouble here, but on the other hand I see what she is saying the whole carry permit thing is a ploy.
Hunters safety is in the same boat most of the people that teach the class i wouldn't let my kids go hunting with. I took one of my sons to one and the instuctior taked about assault rifes for 3 hours ??? What the heck does that have to do with hunting. The next day he started talking about them again. I had to say something and then he started taking about hunters safety.
I also wonder if the NRA has given the list of it's subscribers to the Gov.
Then there is the wighting periods and the tests and the locks and and and.....
It is all a way to make money to fight aginst the people to take away there guns.

Sadly Whitlock, I know a dozen people that are putting their CHP applications, in this week so they will have them when the rules take effect next month. They only want it for National Parks.

We have the Skyline Drive here and it is very popular with yuppie type backpackers. There have also been a number of murders there over the last few years. Those of us that grew up in the mountains always carried illegally and it's never caused a problem. The new people that I'm talking about. have never fired a gun in their lives. Virginia has no require that you know how to shoot, only that you take an hour classroom course.

Don, another pro-2nd Amendment celebrity is Tom Selleck, who is on the NRA Board of Directors.

Whitlock, there's no chance the NRA has provided its membership or subscriber list to the gov't, unless the post office has someone writing down everyone's name who gets the magazines. ( I wouldn't put it past them, especially during the Clinton years...)

And I agree, "...the right to keep and BEAR arms shall not be infringed" does say it all, and it seems to me that ccw laws are therefore obviously unconstitutional on their face.

The mess we're in now is the result of us allowing our God-given, Constitutionally guaranteed rights to be conditioned (waiting periods, background checks, CCW permits, tests, etc.) in the name of "making law enforcement's job easier" or "for your own protection". They're still using the same old tactics to erode our rights and prerogatives even further, and we're still falling for it. When will we ever learn to recognize a power grab when we see one?

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience at the Hunter Safety class. I'd be interested to hear about his "assault rifle" comments in more detail. We have some very good people here in the valley, and I'll be interested to get acquainted with those up the hill as time allows....

Hope to see you soon!

I'll admit I'm not up to speed on the news about guns and the National Parks. The way things were you could not have a loaded gun in your vehicle when traveling through a National Park. You could/can transport your firearm only if it is in a case, unloaded, or dismantled. I always found this a nuisance at the very least. In the Jeep my revolver is always loaded. Ditto the shotgun, albeit with shell in the chamber.Ditto the lever guns.

The emphasis I see in the news is on concealed weapons. I'm confused... does this change mean that CCW owners can carry loaded guns but you still can't have a loaded weapon sitting there in the vehicle?
