As I've read and lurked throughout all the build threads I've noticed something of particular interest to me..

There seems to be an interest in Jeeps LOL
I'm a Jeeper, Husbands a Jeeper and even the lil tykes love the Jeepin.

Odd coincidence or merely the like-minded?

Anyhow, I like talkin jeep almost as much as homebrewing (the valley is hop mecca so homebrewing is on our blood) and I LOVE looking at jeeps.
Post yours, discuss.

We've had a total of 4 Jeeps thus far. 2 having been sold for the rebuild of mine ;(  I'll never live that down with the hubby......ever.

1st Jeep - MINE lo '02 TJ Apex Edition. Soon to be 4" lift with a brand spanking new (eh 3k miles) designed by ME 4.7L Stroker Motor. Can post parts and specs if anyone is interested.
This is mommas fun rig and kid hauler.

2nd Jeep - '77 Cherokee Chief. SB 350 with aftermarket cam D44 front/rear. BEASTLY, but had major carb issues. Sold it for $800

3rd Jeep - M715 Husbands love for a while. Had to sell to pay for motor after local 'club' member ripped us off for several thousand. He still gets PO every time he looks at her pics :(

Current Hubby Project - 69 Commando

He's gonna do a SB conversion and use it as a toy pretty much. She runs around town, but the lights are...finicky lol

So that's our fleet. We eventually wanna get an XJ for grocery getting cause fitting 2 kiddos and groceries into the back of the TJ, well.... that can get creative

MountainDon

[cool] on the stroker!  I have a friend with one, a real torque producer.

I have an XJ and had a CJ5 as well as a few other brand 4x4's (Suzuki SJ410, Toyota FJ60 diesel, IH Scout Traveler). You may have seen images of the XJ and CJ elsewhere on this site. I'll dig out the links to a photo or two and post them, to make it easy. I'll post some details too.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Yeah, the stroker motor has a real "seat of the pants' pull. We try to take it easy on the rear diffs though since we still run the D35. Husband can make me almost sick to my tummy driving it. It WILL set me back in my seat and fling the tummy into your chest lol. We coulda gone with a small block Chevy, but I'm old school. Love me those in-lines, can't beat 'em for torque and the fact it's a JEEP!

I've seen your XJ and I know OlJarhead has one as well. Wasn't sure who else, but I know there's more around here somewhere. ;D

MountainDon

One of my favorite places....

... and the earlier CJ in the same place...

Is that Stair Step?
Awesome Pics though... we'd love to make it out one of these days. Especially Easter Jeep Safari.. what a blast

Hotel Rock trail.  SE UT, off Hwy 95 south of Blanding. it is a part of Safari Week. I believe they do it as a drive in and turn around and go back out the same way. It is possible to continue north and end up in Beef Basin via Elk Mountain road. Along that way there is a hike to some way off the beaten track Anasazi ruins. It's known as Lewis Lodges. It's location used to be a guarded "secret" with maybe a hundred visitors a year. Thanks (?) to the internet there's lots of info now available with a Google. And with many more visitors it has been vandalized. Bums me out. There are even websites making money off them by selling memberships to trail info.

MushCreek

I'm a closet Jeeper, having never had one, but secretly lusting after them. I'd love to get my hands on an old CJ-2.

I'm not poor- I'm financially underpowered.

Squirl

I was a little late to this one.  I almost missed it.

Wrangler building a house.

I'm on my third.  It is the last of the straight 6.  It is downright civilized compared to my carbureted one.

AdironDoc

The only way in to part of my camp.. My friend, Tru-Blu, has never let me down..

BADB0Y

I'm an off-road enthusiast, who has owned all of them. Favorites have been tons of Jeeps, tons of chevy/gmc trucks, a few Toyota's,  and my favorite: the International Scout II. I've been hunting for a 1974 Scout II for a few years now.
Please excuse my typos, I post from my cell phone 90% of the time!

MountainDon

I'm curious as to why a 74 Scout II?  Disc brakes?   If it was me I'd be looking for an '80. The first year they used the Dana 300 t-case that gives you the 2.64:1 low range gear. And as the last year they were made really hard to find. I had a Traveller model.

BADB0Y

I had an 80 diesel... it was a favorite. Its a little more sentimental reasoning. Dad had one when I was born in 74 that was new, and had to sell before I got ahold of it. I've had my build plan for it ready for a good base. Fuellie sbc, 700R4 and an Atlas II.

Those were rare.

Yeah, I found out about 8 months after I sold it how rare and coveted they are.

We're in the Umpqua Valley in Oregon. Beautiful place. The Chief sadly is gone, but....DH is looking at another that he may or may not bring home.
Hopefully we can get into a place soon, before our yard is filled with JEEPS

CjAl

we had a good weekend at the car show

OlJarhead

Almost missed this one!

Yup I love my jeep :)  Though at 251,000+ miles it's getting long in the tooth ;)

The Road Warrior:

After the last cleaning -- yes this jeep has in the excess of 250k miles on it!

The Road Warrior got us to and from our property for the first two years before we bought a newer truck (more room for passengers and ability to haul more gear etc -- we call it 'The Load Warrior').

LOL. I knew there were more jeepers here/ We actually added another to the fleet:

77 Cherokee Chief Levi's Edition. Dirty when we got her, but she runs. Gonna tow our travel trailer when we get one.
I call her " Big Sexy"

Great thread, Tinga

Looks like we're all comin' outta the woodwork....or woods.
Our '99 Wrangler has been sure and steady.
Yeah, after over 200K mi there's been some minor issues, but Jeepers, what a tough little rig.
And it's more me than me.
Mostly stock.
Tool box fits nicely where the back seat should be.
And so easy to maintain.

An incidental thing I've noticed is there seems to be a given camaraderie among Jeep (Wrangler, CJ, etc) drivers.
There's usually a little wave when passing.
Not a happy, full hand wave, or a pageant/parade figure eight, or even a 'hey look, no weapon' wave, just two fingers off the steering wheel.
But, I have yet to get one from the fairer side.
Lady Jeep drivers just seem to not respond.
Nor do the drivers of the newest version. The ones that look like tiny Hummers. Maybe they're so wrapped up in thoughts of where their next payment is coming from they have lost the joy......

Anyhoot, if you see a crazed looking grizzled geezer comin' the other way in a green '99 Wrangler, it could be me......Gimmie the fingers......one hand.

Happy trails

Gary O'

a jeepster and a chief? my my

u always get a jeep wave from me or my wife

Tinga

I'm a waver for sure. The JK'er crowd waves less than most. But alot of the modded TJ's running around my town are driven by girls.
[cool]

I think it takes a certain breed to drive a Jeep that's for sure.

OlJarhead

 [cool]

It's a Jeep, they wouldn't understand ;)

AdironDoc

So many mall moms and Necktie Neds driving past in stock jeeps I never get a wave back. I've resigned myself to waving at modded jeeps and older models, they seem to have more spirit. My kids once asked me if it bothers me when I wave and nobody returns the gesture. "Son", I replied, "I wasn't waving to them, I was saluting their Jeep".  ;)
