Funny how many cabin builders are Jeep owners!  Lot of modded jeeps here too....

Tinga

Yeah, I started to notice it here and on another "forum" independent to that of Jeeps.
Most are self sufficient, do-it-yourself ,no nonsense people that are down to earth and enjoy working with their hands.

CjAl

or we all just sank so much money into out jeeps we cant afford a house so we build little tiny sheds to live in. lol
;D

 [rofl2]

That's probably the best explanation ever. Just Empty Every Pocket

CjAl

 [cool]new rubber

new rock sliders

Tinga

NICE. Are they the KM2's?  [cool]

Love the sliders. We hardly use ours for steps, but the kiddos appreciate them

CjAl

yew they are KM2'S we normally run super swampers.but a friend of ours bought these. and decided he wanted something more aggressive. i got all 5 with road hazard and rotations for $800.  they only had 1000 mi on them. the 35" bfg is considerably smapper then a 35" swamper tho

Tinga

That's not bad considering the KM2's are almost always on a National backorder!! [cool]

We run the Toyo MT's (33x12.5) and we like 'em. They clean out good in the thick clay we have, not too loud on the road and seem to last a bit. Only thing is...they are HEAVY!!

CjAl

the swampers are heavy too. they are a bear to keep balanced. two of these would weigh as much as one swamper.

And here I am running Les Swab 'Wild Country' tires ;)  But then they work for me and I don't get too crazy.

CjAl

we do a fair bit of rather agressive offroading. good tires are worth the money. then again i am spending so much money on trying to get the cabin going i am about to buy a set of treadwright  recaps for my suburban.

Truth is I've seen some of the places Jeeps go (with the right drivers) and think it would be great fun but I'm afraid of the mechanics bill!  Seems everyone who does serious 4 wheelin' has a horror story about breaking something -- kinda like when I used to drive the wheels off sports cars....

These days I would rather save the money for the cabin!

CjAl

it can get expensive fast, especially if your a little happy with the go pedal.

we have been lucky, the rubicon with just a few mods is more capable then i am. we run a manual trans so with the rubi's 4:1 low range transfer case.you can just let the clutch out and crawl almost anything. worst we have done is relocated the exhaust pipe with the driveshaft. it still hasnt been fixed and doesnt leak its just not where it used to be exactly

Exactly. I drive mine everyday, it IS my grocery getter. We are pretty gentle with her as we almost ALWAYS have the 2 kiddos with us. That and the torque put out by the stroker motor would make our little D35 in the rear scream like a "B" if we went at it too hard. We are holding off more mods till we are settled into a piece of property

I've been a jeeper for many years.  I took a break from them until recently when I sold the Tundra and picked up a nice clean WJ for a daily driver.

My favorite was Blackjack.  An '83 Cherokee Laredo with 38000 original on the clock back in '02

Also had a CJ and a couple old J trucks.

CjAl

nothing is cooler then a 2door cherokee. i want one so bad but its not in the budget right now. i found one with a 401 with no oil pressure i almost bought last year but we couldnt come to an agreement on price. they all think they are sitting on gold.
when i was a teenager we would buy old waggoneers in the fall for 200 and then plow with them all winter and junk them in the spring. they are great plow trucks
