Hi all,

So my delima is my computer died and I'm going to get a new one, of course everything comes with Win 7!  I would like to buy the BHG Vs 6 or 7 or the 3d arch vs 3, but neither of those are going to work on the new computer!

Sooooooooo my question is, do any of you think it's possible for a novice like me to create the entire Universal 2 story cottage on one of those sites without the stock plan from the sister site?

Thanks in advance!

I have a question or two.  If this is going to have to be permitted, will it need engineering?  If so, buy the plan from John and take it to the engineers he will have it redrawn.

If it is not going to have to be engineered why not just buy the plan from John?  Then he will also be there to field your questions and ideas.  Also he has a little booklet that in itself is very valuable.  Though when you get it you might look at it and set it aside.  Then when you start to read it wow there is a lot of good tips in it.

Also then you do not have to also learn a new software program.  I did draw a house in BHG and took it in.  The draftsman was very happy with it.  We were able to talk and see points he needed to change and I needed changed.  I saved us a few hours of his time and a huge coffee bill.  He likes to meet in a trendy coffee shop.  This saved me some $ on his fee.

That said I think the person that owns the copyright should always get paid.  So if I decided to built a cabin of John's or Sheldon's or any of the rest of the long litany designers on the internet and I am going to use his or her design as a core design.  I would always buy the plan and make changes off of it.

it will probably still work, you can run the program in compatibility mode.

Oh no you misunderstand.  I love the plan and plan on buying it.  I just want to mess around with the interior a bit.  Make sure its something we want to build, play around with add ons etc.  I can do that right?  I was assuming since most people on here seem to create their own versions that would be cool?

I have a really bad habit of not explaining myself.

My questions stems from this from the planhelp.com site.

"download *20x34 Universal Cottage*    *20x34 Universal Cottage*

The full basement layout of the 20x34 two story cottage. Use this to modify the floorplan to suit, change eletrical layouts, redo the kitchen, etc.

3DHA template file for 3d Home Architect, ver. 3 or compatible home design software. "
