Hi everyone!!! I didn't quite drop off the face of the earth, just hung my toes over the edge.....

We've actually made a lot of progress on our little house. We had to move into it this winter because we couldn't afford to heat both the house and the trailer. So we camped for a bit sans plumbing and electricity (but toasty warm). The bathroom is completely finished now and we're working on the kitchen. We still have some siding to do in spring, but that finishes the exterior(hopefully forever!).

The hall at the top of the stairs. I'm rather proud of our arched doorways. The whole house will be the green you see to the left.

The south side of the house. About two thirds sided.

The west side of the house. We sided it first since it gets the most weather. We used PVC coated steel. Expensive, but no painting.

Thanks for the update, Sherry. Nice to see you are progressing at your own pace. Great job.

I found the motorhome I was staying in to be way too cold for me the first year so I moved in to the cabin even though it was not complete also. Much nicer to be able to get warmed up.

Well, I don't know if it's at MY pace, but when you pay as you go it slows things down a lot. Still we are making progress. I posted some more pictures of the interior at http://www.willowfencefarm.com/house.html. I think we'll have a kitchen up and going in the next coupld of weeks and the spiral stair is on its way! Such luxuries I won't know what to do!!

From what I have seen you do in the past, I'm sure you could outwork the money supply.

The key thing is that you are getting it done and you have a useful shelter that you can improve as time goes on.

That is one cool cat, Sherry.

Sassy has a replica slipper tub in her bathroom, and we dropped our cat on the cement floor for a couple of footprints but that night apparently a bobcat tried to eat her, so we also got bobcat tracks chasing her and more of her tracks. She got away that time, but was not as lucky later.

It always seems like we're running on crisis mode and the next couple of weeks are no different. Brad is getting his hip replaced on Feb 1st and we're trying to get the kitchen done(at least operational) and the spiral stair in before that. So this is what I'm doing today....

This is where my kitchen sink and cabinets go. The sink is a big double farmhouse style with the drainboard sides. As you see, all the doorways are arched. Time consuming, but so beautiful!

There will be a window seat here and the stove goes against the wall just past the window you see. You can get a peek at my stove outside the plastic.

Wish us luck! I'm so tired of not having a kitchen sink.......

Can you tell us a bit more about the stove, Sherry? It looks a bit similar to our 1935 or so Wedgewood combo wood and propane.

You have a good eye. That's exactly what the stove is. I also have a 1950's model Chambers stove that we are going to see about converting to propane. I suppose we could hook back up to natural gas, but there's the line and maintenance charge.

I really like this little stove, but the oven door has been beat to hell and I don't quite know what to do about that

. We don't have the wood part hooked up, but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to.

We're working on making the house functional without electricity. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff, but I don't want to be at a loss when it goes out. Our biggest weakness is the pellet stove we are heating with right now. No electricity, no heat. Besides the thing is too noisy for me anyway. I'm looking at getting one of these

Interesting stove. I'm curious too, and would love to hear thoughts on the item.

Couldn't find any reviews on 'em 'cept from guys who manufacture or sell them. They give 'em rave reviews, though.
