I sold a gun and I've been selling plasma for tools and the like and I'm wanting an air compressor. Harbor Freight has one, a 21 gallon Central Pneumatic 3hp vertical one for 199. I can afford that right now, but is it enough for a framing nailer and such? I've got no experience with compressors, so I need help. Thanks.

It would be big enough for the job.  In it's favor it is oil lubricated so should last longer. Price is low.   Some of the more portable ones are high speed dry and only last a few years under medium use.

Being vertical it is a bit less portable than some - but shouldn't be a major problem.  Bigger tank holds more air but takes longer to fill.

and -- anymore you will not likely find many tools that are not made in China anyway, no matter what brand.  If that is what you want I wouldn't worry about it.

CFM at 90 psi is the most critical item.  4.9 will handle an air nailer.

   * Heavy duty 3 HP motor
   * 120V 60 Hz
   * 7.0 SCFM @ 40 PSI
   * 4.9 SCFM @ 90 PSI
   * 4.3 SCFM @ 115 PSI
   * Oil lubricated
   * CSA Listed

   Jeesh yer hard up , or hard core!
When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .

I thought this was going to be about a Plasma Gun.  :-/

I agree with Glenn on the compressor and PEG about the gun.   ;D
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I thought it was a plasma gun too, Don.  I don't think we should let Jared have one though-- he could get messy. :P

That air compressor goes on sale every year for $99 (I know, I bought one).  Just wait for it.

Wait for it? Too late, I already ordered it yesterday. Oh well, I got a free attache case with it. That should ease the pain of an extra 100 bucks, right?

If it goes on sale soon the manager will probably credit you back.  Seems I remember that to be their policy.  Also they reduced the price on my 1" gas engine powered impact wrench $100 while I waited for delivery of it - credited when I got it.

Well crapola! I got the compressor and the styrofoam inside was all busted up and so was one of the freaking guages. Plus, I didn't get my free attache case. Now I have to call HF tomorrow and find out what to do. According to my wife, FedEx just dumped it on the font porch, rang the bell once and by the time she got to the door, he was already in his truck and leaving. Sure hope this can be resolved.

Now thats a SIN! A man should never sell a gun.  :o Unless he is getting 2 guns with the same amount of money.  ;D But then agian at times you got to do what you got to do. ;)

But inquiring minds want to know what type was it ??  :-?

Actually, it wasn't even a complete gun. It was a DPMS AR-15 lower. I got ten bucks more than I paid for it.

In that case we'll forgive you for selling off part of a mouse gun!  ;)

The title had me stumped, too!  I was picturing something to do with big screen TVs and television violence... I figured Harbor Freight was another TV drama that I've never heard of or something, LOL.

Well, at least I wasn't the only one who missed the point.   :)

Sounds like your screenplay could have one heck of a plot, Homegrown.
