Did you catch Lloyd Kahn's ( author in: http://www.countryplans.com/books.html) letter in Mother Earth News?  He's looking for builders who build real houses for real people for his next book, about unique builders.
I bet some Countryplans users fit the bill...

I wish I was a real house builder then I could get into his book.  I sent him an e-mail anyway.  Missed the article -will look - thanks, daddymem.

Lloyd stayed with me for a couple of days in August while on a trip up to the NW and into Canada. He found some interesting builders up in the islands of BC.

I was impressed with all the books he has done.
None of us are as smart as all of us.

That must have been interesting with the places he has seen, photographed and written about.

Sounds interesting.  Will have to look at that.

Maybe I can make it into the book if I ever get finished and move in.  Then it is a REAL house, right?

 ;)

Looks that way to me- and a great job too, Jeff.

Lloyd just sent me a link to his travel blog (above) and this picture from a trip up to B.C., Canada:

Sweet little hand built cottage.

I thought "sweet" before I saw that you had written it.

(although without seeing the inside I did wonder why they put that skylight in instead of a window in the end wall)

John,

Thanks for the link to the blog, what an interesting read.  I remember being mesmerized by  Shelter.

If you enjoyed Shelter, you will also find the thread picked up in Lloyd's Home Built book - it has very similar character and philosophy (but all new houses).
