Thanks Sparks.  The band is know as "Mude Hole Control" and have been playing for nearly 40 years. The fiddle and banjo players probably have been playing for 50+ years and are considered "Masters".  They are traveling to the State Capitol for the Holiday to play a square dance in a music festival (Vandalia) held yearly.  They asked my son to go with them to play back up for the older banjo player who has had some health problems.  Quite an honor to pick my son (16 years) over other older players.  His style (Clawhammer) is a rare breed amoung banjo players nowdays as most go the blue grass route.  He is keeping Applachain Music alive which is the basis of banjo music as we know today.

Good music this past weekend when my son and myself attended the Maury River Fiddlers Convention at Beuna Vista, Virginia.  He placed in the top 3 of the Youth Division.  Actually he wanted to enter the adult competetion but was unable to play on Friday evening which was required to compete in Saturdays event.  This week is Music, Music and more Music.  Annual Allegheny Echos Workshop with some of the States finest musicians as instructors and the evening music just can't be topped.  Here is a couple video's of songs from last week.

The next video gets better after a few seconds.  I am sure you have heard of a "tree hugger" well the first portion is interupted by a "jar hugger"

Peter nothing your way that comes to mind.  As this week comes to an end there has been a lot of good entertainment this past week.  I hate to see it come to a close but I don't think I could really stand much more with the last night watching Steven play until daylight the following morning. Here is just a couple more tunes which is only a sample.  The next engagement is a benefit concert next weekend which he has been invited to play in.

After that I think I have to much time on my hands to watch anymore Zlad.  I think I better go to the shop and inventory drill bits.

Wasn't that a takeoff on the SNL Steve Martin and Dan Akroid "Two Wild and Crazy Guys"?

Michael Franti and Spearhead...nuff said.  Die Antwoord is almost annoyingly good, because its the kind of band that you don't want to like, but beware of explicit lyrics, and a lot of phallic representations in their videos.  Definitely do not watch with the kids.  Remember, I warned you!

Not new but for a really good laugh, check out Joe Cocker and what he's really saying,  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xJWxPE8G2c

just spent a few days building a website, and didn't know that it could be so physically taxing to sit and do nothing all day!

Wynton has some great classical pieces. This one is great:

He put out an album in the 80's with the Philharmonic; soothes the soul.

Some local stuff:
Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter

They used to play more of a haunting, mellow, alt-country sound; this one rocks a bit more.

You might like Neko Case as well.  If you like this one, she performed on Austin City Limits several years ago, and that would be worthwhile to watch/listen to.
