I have a plan to build a cottage in a piece of wood land along the river of Muskoka, Ontario.
I have never built a house in my life before. To warm up my building skill before the major project, I try to start a small one in my back yard.

I build a tool shed by myself --- rather call a small house for tools.

The Designs are drew with Sketchup 8.0. The house is 12 feet by 12 feet on a concrete pad, framed with 2x4. Height is 11 feet 8 inch.

Site Preparation:

I put 4 tons aggregate (crushed stone) as Sub base, 4 inch deep:

Concrete pad form with film and rebar

Pouring concrete pad:

Framing wall:

Puting up porch column 6x6:

Putting on wall sheathing

Set up roof ridge

drawing rafter pattern with sketchup

Install roof rafters

Putting on roof deck. It start snowing....

Roof deck was finished

Wrap the house with homewrap

Install roof shingles

Next Step: Installing windows and door. A door was purchased in Lowe's, 40 inches wide, swung out. I plan to build two fixed windows on site by myself.

To Be Continued...

It seems the host where the images are located does not permit hot linking to the images through other websites, like ours. That's my guess.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
