Kinda interesting, the way fear is going mainstream with the economy like it is and all. Heck, I'm about as laid back as they come, the farthest thing from a alarmist imaginable, but I'm getting bouts of bunker mentality too. Sign of the times, and not a good one.

A person who is prepared for things staying the same as they have always been will have a much harder time preparing for CHANGE when it hits.

We have been promised CHANGE.  Disaster preparation is probably in order.

Interesting.  I qualify as a "Prepper" but not quite that extreme.  We maintain about 3 months of supplies and rotate them out.  No grains though.  Chickens are not worth a bit in the winter.  I do have the bosque within walking distance and should be able to get ducks and other game there if needed.

What is interesting is much of this stuff was just the way of life for hundreds of years.  It seems even up through the 1950's from my readings, and has never stopped in rural areas. Nothing like the worst recession since the 1970's to get people thinking about it again.

Pretty soon, retiring to the woods to live in a one room cabin with a manual typewriter is going to be yuppified.
