Actually it was the U.S. gov't back in the 1970's that gave the Shaw of Iran their first nuclear reactor. I have seen reprint articles advertising the safety and efficiency of the reactor. The article had a picture of the Shaw in his military uniform. Even spoke of the Shaw and Iran as a allie. Of course it was the CIA backed coup in the 50's that brought the Shaw into power. The U.S. has been intervening in Iran for a long time.
