Here come the Bears

We've never had bears in this area. Atleast not in my lifetime. Last week a black bear was captured less than 30 miles from here and the wildlife department says their numbers are on the rise. I think this is pretty cool.

Probably a couple good reasons.  One their natural area is being developed and they have to learn to coexist and the other could be available food source.  I hope they do not become a problem.  But the closer they come to humans the worse it becomes.

Our friends just down the road came home from a walk the other day to find a large bear and her cub wandering around the yard. It wasn't easy to chase them of, either... They didn't mind all the noise of their shouting and were quite happy to mosey around the yard, check out the willow trees, etc.

Yosemite rangers use paint ball guns cranked all the way up.  They are trying to re-instill fear of humans.

That sounds like a good excuse to get a paintball marker...  Personally, I'm an Airsoft kind of guy. Those hunks of neon-colored plumbing are too politically correct.
