I went to the Civil War re-enactment here today.

The Rebel camp was my favorite.  The Rebel soldiers said they had won some battles but unfortunately were afraid they would likely lose the last one again....  :(

They had 19 cannons to the Union armies 4. Seems that odds should have been better... [waiting]

I was encouraging them.  :)

There was an authentic broom maker with his grandfather's tools - still making brooms for sale .... I got one for Sassy.

There were tons of cannons - 19 Confederate - 4 Union

and the only portable forge from the civil war of 6 known to be in existence that is not owned by the Park Service.

Mariposa was settled before the Civil War and many Mariposans went to the war.

Whitlock found an Artillery coat button from someone who returned after the war when we were out metal detecting in the next town north.

But the Confederates won a few battles and definitely made the most noise with the big guns... :)

I have found a lot of Civil War stuff detecting In Mariposa co. It is actually quite surprising how much Civil war stuff is in the ground here.
What I would really like to find is something linked to Fremont!!!
