Easter is one of the two days in the year that my guns stay home.
Yesterday, We took our son and grandkids out for the day and during the day, I ran into a man that had a twice fired, Taurus Titanium framed 44 Magnum.
He hated it. The reason it was twice fired was that the recoil is so bad, he thought it had blown up and was sending it to Taurus to fix.

I've fired them before and that 28 ounce gun is something to get your attention, but boy are nice to carry.

Anyway, the horse trading began. He walked away with an old Honda 100 dirt bike that I'd planned to sell and I got the gun. That's one of those deals where both people went home happy ;D

I prefer your end of the deal.  Congrats.  I have no interest in firing something like that.

The trick to shooting it is load some midrange specials for normal shooting and full house magnums for carry when you feel you might need them.

It is a pure joy to carry though.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I have one in 45LC.  19 - 20 oz IIRC

I'd rather have the 45 Colt if I had my choice Don. I still consider that the best all around handgun cartridge available...but the 44 is close enough and loaded down has close to the same ballistics.

Don, have you ever had any problem with the cylinder hanging up when shooting it DA?  I had a Taurus 317 that would shoot okay SA but not DA.  I sold that guy less than 24 hours after buying it.

It seemed that the case rim was hanging on something and it would impede it from rotating once in awhile.  It spooked me too much to keep as a carry gun.

I experienced a binding on one spot after it warmed up.
It never did that from cold; only after 10+ rounds, one after the other.
However it got better after a hundred rounds.
After a couple hundred more rounds it doesn't act up anymore.   :D

Every Taurus revolver (Not the autos) I've had, needed some tuning. This one needs a good break in or a trigger job, It's a little tight at the end of the hammer arc.

The same can be said for Smiths and Rugers though. The only revolvers I ever had that I was happy with out of the Box, are my BFR's.

Peter, is that the revolver that carries 5 rounds?  I like the taurus, tho never owned one...do have a 100th anniv. winchester model 94 in 44mag  (lever action)that I use as a saddle rifle.  with only a 16 (or 16 1/2") barrel it is the shortest rifle that is legal here.  That barrel does increase the velocity, but it is punishing enuf to shoot where you can loan it to a buddy and you know he isnt going to get it all hot! It'll wreck a wild boar!

No, this is 6 shot. It's actually the Raging Bull Frame made in titanium.
