3 part series on Der Spiegel:

Christianity's Modern-Day Martyrs

"The draft of air stirs charred Bible pages. The walls are sooty and the building smells of scorched plastic. Metro Tabernacle Church was the first of 11 churches set on fire by angry Muslims -- all because of one word. "Allah,"

Christianity is also the single largest religious group of people in the world.  It has mort than 50% more followers than the next largest religion, Islam.  Correlation, not causation.

Got a point there!

Though it would be surprising if, given the current cultural clash between Islam and the west, that discrimination wasn't on the rise, especially in the regions less "sensitive" and multicultural. Most of the religious intolerance in the world is in Islamic and communist states.

The larger number of Christians worldwide would tend to support the proposition, actually.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Correlation, not causation". I mean, I know what it means, just not what you meant.

Clarify?

I meant that if 1% of the worlds population faced religious persecution on a daily basis, Christianity would be double the next lowest number of religiously persecuted because they have double the population.  It is not because they are Christian.  It is simply correlative to the size, not caused by the religious beliefs.

If "1% of the worlds population faced religious persecution on a daily basis", on exactly the same parity between faiths, sure.

But where'd you get that?

It's not "correlation or cause". Cause has to have correlation. It's not one or the other.

In any case, the article is about persecution of Christians. I'm not sure at all of what you're arguing with.

Seems you're arguing against something that wasn't ever stated.

I dunno.

My GOD,the creator, the father of Abraham ,Isaac, and Jacob is Not called allah. Never once have I heard him called that before, and never have I read it in the Bible.

I did a search and found some people think that some words for GOD mean allah in a different language in the bible. Sometimes you cant believe everything you read. But just for names sake, if allah does mean God ,then every false god was named allah or Yahweh

The key difference is "they are not / cant be the same God".The christian God or Yahweh is a God of love, which by grace through faith in his son Jesus, wishes noone to parish but have everlastimg life with him.Read John 3:16(Holy Bible). Allah the muslim god is about as far away from that as I can think of ,just watch your local/world news to see what your radical muslim believes.

I dont want to get in a deep discusion, debate, or argument. I just wanted to say they're not the same god.

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.

I have to agree. The idea that because Islam and Christianity are both offshoots of Judaism and therefore God and Allah are both the same "God of Abraham" just strikes me as being simplistic at best.

That said, Arabic-speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Christians and Jews, use the word "Allah" to mean "God", so I guess it depends on which sense, linguistic or otherwise, is meant.

"An Egyptian court in the southern city of Assuit acquitted this week four Muslims accused of killing 61-year-old Farouk Attallah on October 19, 2009. In broad daylight and in full view of witnesses, the killers fired 31 bullets to his head before beheading him,"
