So which one is the terrorist, the pig or the kid? DHS needs to arrest someone for this.

pagan

Some judicious use of water boarding and other "harsh" interrogation tactics would find out where other terrorist cells are located.

Sassy, I think that Mass. law is probably this one that has been lying low since 2001

It is indeed scary

the Governor or his appointees can imprison quarantine anyone indefinitely
with no due process -- amoung other horrors

Often, our ignorance is not as great as our reluctance to act on what we know.

Windpower and Sassy,

I've been reading about that law and it's downright abysmal, which is why politicians LOVE it so much. It reminds me of the couple in Vermont who had all of their sheep destroyed to protect us from mad cow back in the nineties. None of the sheep ever tested positive, yet the government seized their flock. I've read about farmers having all of their chickens taken without any proof by the USDA that the chickens had any decease. What strikes me has disturbing is the seizures are always at small family operated farms and not the huge mega-farms.

Now apply these tactics in light of this law. The government could come in and accuse you of having a disease, which it doesn't have to prove, and cart you off to "quarantine" you for public safety.

These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

2-3 yrs ago I posted something on the new CDC/Homeland Security/FEMA plans that are posted on their official sites - reviewed some of it last night on the CDC site.  In an article I also read, it mentioned about us going to "level 6" now on the "pandemic" alert...  and it mentioned that if someone refused to be checked out for disease, would be forcefully quarantined until it was found whether they were indeed infectious or not.

I'm afraid that when Baxter comes up with a swine flu vaccine, me, as a healthcare worker, will be forced to take it or not be able to work - there is already talk of making the regular flu vaccine manditory for employees who work for the VA.  Baxter was the pharmaceutical company that sent all the vials for Avian flu vaccines to Europe that were infected with the actual virus - hmmmm, so how many other countries did they not discover the ahem, mistake?  And what other viruses were in the vaccines...   [frus] [noidea'

Sassy how hard would it be for you to get a drop of vaccine on a slide so you can look at it under a microscope before they make you take the shot?

Sassy

I don't know, but then I wouldn't know what I was looking at & you'd need a pretty powerful microscope...

I've already thought about what I might do - if they told me I had to get the vaccine, I'd wait for a busy time, draw up some sterile saline; give the syringe to one of my co-workers while holdng a vial of the vaccine; or if they are pre-filled syringes, I'd get one, squirt out the vaccine, pull up some saline a couple times to flush out the syringe & then have someone give me the shot...  that should work  :P
