If you have been unable to decide on how you should vote maybe this will help you.  ???

My vote came out the same as I've leaned ever since we know who the two main choices were.

Note, there was/is also a match-O-Matic (1)   ...the original 17 candidate

McCain it is of the two and Huckabee would have been my first choice apparently.  ???
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

I had to try it - it was McCain but I don't trust him to do the things my answers want...  I want Alfred E Neuman.

Glenn, according to some bio info on Neuman...

A running joke since 1956 has been Neuman's campaign for the U.S. presidency and his slogan: "You could do worse, and always have!"... In 2000 a depiction of Neuman as George W. Bush became a popular poster and tee-shirt... Those on the list of Neuman lookalikes include The Yellow Kid, Prince Charles and ABC newsman Ted Koppel.

Likenesses of Neuman have can be found back as far as the 19th century in Punch, so he may actually be older than McCain.

Looks like he may be the best choice then ...all that experience...

He certainly looks young for his age...

That doesn't surprise me Don. We seem to run parallel on some of this type of thinking. I have noticed that before.

I think I had 15 statements that were Obama and one McCain...

I want neither one of these idiots... neither one will stop the endless funding of the Israel war machine...or repeal the patriot act

After watching the Alfred Smith Dinner speeches last night I will vote for Obama for a stand up comedian slot. Mc Cain was alright too, but a little more subtle. It was good to see the two laughing at themselves and each other. A little laughter amidst the turmoil was a good thing.

Yep. We shouldn't give Israel another dime. Zip.

Yep.

And we can kick back and let Ahmadinejad fulfill his desire that Israel be 'wiped off the map'.

That's the right thing to do.

Yeah, right. (need a dripping sarcasm emoticon)

Ah... for once I get to correct an internet lie.  That was a calculated mistranslation of his words that has been grabbed and used by those supporting the destruction of Iran as a reason to go to war with them.  He did not say that or anything near that meaning -- the right wing media has had a great time with it though and the warmongers love to repeat it.

A mistranslation contorted to fit the war party's desires and propaganda.  He simply wants the war mongering regime to stop - not the annihilation of the people.

Does that mean Rachel Corrie wanted Israel wiped off the map when she tried to stop the genocide against the Palestinians.

I'm not trying to justify right on either side or start a war here... just making a point.

Whether or not the translation of the quote is or was accurate is probably moot. Ahmadinejad is not a friend of Israel or the Jewish people. I believe the sentiment is MTL a core value of Ahmadinejad's beliefs.

I should probably keep my mouth shut when it comes to the subject of Israel or Jewish people.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

It can get sticky but I also have friends and ancient relatives who were and are Jewish and had a doctor, acquaintance and chat friend who were Iranian.  John was based in Iran with the peace Corps for a while if I recall correctly and I think I can safely say that the people of any country in general are not the haters or the problem unless they have been programmed and made to hate.

The doctor put his life on the line at risk of going to Mexican prison to help us with the free clinic for the poor Mexican people of Ocoroni, Siniloa, MX.  We called him the Iranian terrorist, and I would trust him covering my back any day.

It is the politicians, war and power mongers along with religion who cause the hatred and killing in the world.  Not the common people.  Most of the common people of any country would give their lives to help and protect the other common people of the world no matter where they are from.  Only when steered by political greed, quest for worldly good - oil and power are the poor followers brainwashed by the evil leadership to maim and kill their brothers wherever they may be in the world.

For the religious ones of you who will take offense at my above words, please be aware that I believe in God and his son and spirit.  I just do not believe that he is sanctioning all of the killing that is going on in the world.  He will not logically bless both sides and it is my contention that he does not bless either.  Let's not make God into a criminal to justify the killings sanctioned by our government in his name.   Who said, many will come in my name and I will say, truly I never knew you?

I just don't want to be accused of being anti-Christian again as that seems to be important to some.

I will step down from the alter now.... [crz]

rofl ...

The last time Sassy told me it wasn't a money thing, and got me to go with her, the preacher got up there and in a few minutes he was telling everyone they needed to give him their kid's college money to forward his ministry to TV and the big time.

A few months later he was caught having an affair with one of the church members wives.  His wife wasn't real happy about it either. The fine reverend.  What would we do without him.  hmm

I know.... some will say I'm just looking at one of a multitude of them.... Yeah, I know. ::)

A link sent to me regarding tha actual conditions of the Jews in Iran.  Reference is made to the disputed wipe off the map translation but for the most part, the Iranian Jews have no problem in Iran per BBC and their interviews.

"It is one of only four Jewish charity hospitals worldwide and is funded with money from the Jewish diaspora - something remarkable in Iran where even local aid organisations have difficulty receiving funds from abroad for fear of being accused of being foreign agents.

Most of the patients and staff are Muslim these days, but director Ciamak Morsathegh is Jewish.

"Anti-Semitism is not an eastern phenomenon, it's not an Islamic or Iranian phenomenon - anti-Semitism is a European phenomenon," he says, arguing that Jews in Iran even in their worst days never suffered as much as they did in Europe."

A bit more.

QuoteThe following correction was printed in the Guardian's Corrections and clarifications column, Saturday July 28 2007

In the article below we reported that last year President Ahmadinejad said (quoting the late Ayatollah Khomeini) that Israel should be "wiped off the map". A more literal translation of the statement he made in 2005, at The World without Zionism conference in Tehran, is "the regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/jul/12/israel.iran

In Ahmadinejad's Iran, Jews still find a space
Some 25,000 Jews still live in Iran and many say that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fiery anti-Israeli rhetoric is about politics, not religion.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0427/p01s03-wome.html?page=1

Quote"The relations between Jews and Muslims, between 70 million Muslims and 30,000 Jews, are very good," says Mohaber. "In Israel, the situation for Iranian Jews is quite misunderstood."

Thanks to our friend and member who sent the links to this pertinent information.

The Iranian language (Farsi) is often mistranslated. It is a very poetic language and because of cultural tradition is often given to flowery embellishments that can be viewed as overblown statements when taken literally.

Difficult for straight talking Americans to understand. (We used to be straight-talking anyway. :D)
