Some smaller and sawn-off waste will become wood stove pellets, also at the pueblo. A quantity is being laid across the slopes to help slow erosion.

We're back early today. Rains, big rains, threaten and the road in gets damaged easily now from the extreme runoff from the burn scar. We have a meeting scheduled with the FS and neighbors as it is the FS road. The runoff from the burned areas is also causing problems in a developed area between us and the highway. Hopefully, a solution is found soon.

This fire may have been caused by the FS not tending to February slash burns south of us where a lot of thinning had been done over the winter. The report is still not out. If the FS is at fault remedies will be faster coming.

d* Darn them!  I agree 100% on forest management by the way!  I'm trying to get our place under control and spent the weekend up there getting dirt work done and thinning...got a new battery powered chainsaw I'll review on my channel today:  hint, it's awesome! Worth every penny so far.

Now, get yourself a Rubi and put some suspension under and you'll never worry about the road washouts again! ha!

LOL, wow! I'm not ready for that yet.
Unusual but I'll take it, we're 60 this morning.

Well, I see I neglected to add some news a while back.  Last May I had a heart attack while in the cabin area. My heart never stopped but I was very tired unexpectedly. I also vomited a couple of times which was also unusual. Nothing improved so Karen thought we should head home. She drove and when we came to the highway, where left is home, right is to Los Alamos and the nearest hospital, I asked her to go right. I didn't feel "right". So after a couple of minutes in the ER the doctor told me I had had a heart attack and he had ordered a medical helicopter to take me to the bigger hospital with a real cardio department, in Santa Fe. I remember the air trip. It was night and I could pick out a few light clusters I could ID.  That Saturday at midnight I received 2 arterial stents.  Monday morning 2 more.

I went to the local cardio pulmonary specialty gymnasium for a cardio evaluation and a workout regimen to strengthen the action of my heart. I feel good most of the time and have some new meds. Things look pretty good. We've been at the cabin a lot over the summer. The wildfire burned ground turned very green with the rainfall we had. No downbursts came which was very good. The downside of the greening was that quite a bit of the green was unwanted invasive species. Anyhow we'll see how that works out. We are hopeful that next spring or summer all the right pieces fall into place and we will have some federal funds spent on rehabbing some of the property. Drainage ponds, mulching, even some seedlings planted. The money will be there; the trouble may be finding contractors who want to do the work. The much larger Calf Canyon and Hermits Peak wildfire areas have oodles more work there without any need to move equipment the distance to our smaller damaged area.

We had enough snow already to cause serious doubt that we will be able to access the cabin until spring. But the forecast is for a warmer winter so maybe enough will melt.

OMG!   Im glad you got in on time and it worked out!!!

Take care my friend and here's to many more years of cabin life!!

MountainDon

Thank you!..  I was lucky we headed to the hospital, where they were right on top of things as soon as we drove up to the ER doors. I was lucky that my heart kept going as it would have been probably 45 minutes for an ambulance to make it out to the cabin.
