Flooring options...

Morning all.....need some advice. I am installing a new subfloor in my daughters bedroom at the old house. She wants some type of tile or wood surface. The catch is, the wood subfloor isn't perfectly level all around the room. I am trying to get it as even as I can but have to deal with old joists, etc....so what if anything can I put down as an underlayment before the vinyl tile, other than the self-leveling compound ? I am trying to find something that can be unrolled or whatever rather than put down another layer of wood as in luan.

I should add that when I say level, I'm not worried about from wall to wall, I am referring to spots where a few pieces of the subfloor join....one may be a tad higher here or there...... ....doing the best I can....she's barking at me to hurry up..........women............

If just leveling edges I would use Fixall and a wide trowel such as a 12" drywall trowel.  It dries fast - 30 minutes or less.

There isn't much way to use a sheet product without creating another ridge.  You need something you can feather out such as Fix all --(apparently name changed to Fix-it-all)

We use it , good stuff,  it will hold together even when spread very thin , it is spendy , but fix -all will crack  when poured out to a feathered edge.

There is a product to prime concrete , which you won't need as your doing a wood floor fill , but if some one else reads this when pouring Ardex over old concrete the primer is used for better bonding.
