Would plexiglass serve as a good way to build a window in an oddly shaped frame? For example, if I had some sort of weird opening in the wall and wanted glass there, could I just buy 1/4 plexi, cut to fit, and case it in?

I've really been inspired by this hut

I was thinking that if I was to build something like that... plexi would be a lot cheaper than custom made windows.

Just wondering  :-\

There would be no insulating value what so ever in comparison to double or tripple pane windows.  Plexiglass does not stay crystal clear like glass does either.  Windows are one of the most important energy saving features in your build do not skimp.

I was/am thinking the same thing as John; don't skimp on windows. If you mean to build a single pane it's almost as good as a hole in the wall. If you try to seal two panes you will not suceed. Even the factory made sealed glass units fail after time, fog up and so on. I too was going to build a small custom non-opening window. I'm glad I talked myself out of it.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
