It's been in the low 40's all day so I lit the new Jodel.

Man.....does that throw out heat with very little wood and a long burn time.

It'll be interesting to see if it heats all night with the damper cut back.

Peter I have an uncle in Roanoke that has been using that model for years.  Swears by their performance.  Glad it is working out for you.  As for me I have been burning a evening fire for the last week or so but the last couple nights I brought it back in the AM to burn all day.  I guess it is that time of the year so I just as well face it firing until April.  :(

I'm really thinking about going down to the barn to bring back an armload of wood and lighting a fire.  We haven't lit the pilot on the propane heat yet, and are in no hurry to.  Prefer the wood heat until around January when we usually break down and light the propane central heat.  It is chilly, but my husband is grumbling around the house and complaining about the cold, but doesn't want to light a fire, either because it is supposed to be in the mid-60s tomorrow afternoon.

It rained and temps dropped all day today, we slowly got chilled and finally gave up a little after 4. Came home and fired up the stove and baked our backsides. Still raining now but they're calling for some white stuff outside by morning.

Had our first fire in the fireplace this past week too.  Thursday night was chilly, so we made a fire and watched reruns all evening.  It was a hoot!  Makes me think more about having an outdoor fireplace too.

I'm starting to get the stove dialed in now. Burn time is phenomenal.

When I went to sleep last night...around 10:00, I loaded it and cut the damper back to 1/3. At 3:00 when I started working, I still had some fire left and a good bed of coals. I just threw in couple of logs and opened up the damper for a few minutes. That got the whole process going again.

This stove has an ash dump so I don't have to wait for the fire to go out to clean it. I just pull the pan and dump it while the fire above is still going strong.
