I just got a great deal on siding at Lowe's- if you're in the market, you might want to see if all Lowe's are doing this, or just the one store. Last weekend, I went into Lowe's, and spotted Nichiha fiber cement siding marked down from $6.88 a piece to $3.88. I darn near bought it right then. Today, I went in there, and it was down to $1.88 a piece! This is 8-1/4" X 12', lifetime warranty stuff. I bought the whole pallet- 247 pieces, for less than $500. It looks like almost the exact right amount for the house I'm building- I might be over or under a few pieces. Now all I have to figure out is how to move it, and where to put it!

Sounds like a buy.  I just worked on a house using Hardie board that they wiped a stain on to make it look like wood.  I came out real nice.

Score! Looked online at my local Lowes and didn't see anything, so I'll have to stop in and ask.  I'd buy it for my place in a heartbeat at that price.  Did my last house with Hardie Plank and really like the stuff.  Is the Nichiha smooth, or does it have the "Cedarmill" pattern like most of the Hardie Plank?

It's the Cedarmill pattern, 8.25". Not my first choice, as it is a rather heavy grain pattern that I fear will trap dirt, but I couldn't pass it up at the price. I checked with another Lowe's in the area, and they don't stock any fiber cement; you have to order it. Moving and storing it may prove a challenge; it works out to some 4100 lbs. I have a trailer I can borrow, and I can stick it in my garage, but that will mean a lot of loading and unloading. Hopefully they can at least load it on the trailer. I also might ask what they would charge to place the pallet in my driveway- I only live 2 miles away.

Checked my local Lowes today, and they only carry the Hardie and don't have any closeout stuff...bummer!  I need to side my place, and that price is incredible.  I also love the Cedarmill pattern.  FWIW, Hardi Plank Cedarmill at my old place didn't get dirty over a period of 5+ years.  Not sure what's floating around in the air there vs. where I was though.

Lowes here just handles Hardie as well.   :(  But thanks for the heads up. :)

Nice steal.  I too used the Hardie Plank on my house; the Cedar Mill turned out great...paints well.  Last time I was at
Lowes, I didn't see any fibercement siding anywhere; I hope it's not a special order now.
