Concise synopsis, Considerations, thanks!

A few months ago I read a book on the importance of iodine - especially if you have thyroid problems - which I have (hypothyroid).  We don't consume enough iodine in the US.  I bought some bottles of Lugol's iodine - don't take it everyday but a couple drops about 2x's week.  Lugol's has both iodine & potassium iodide & when I bought it, it was pretty cheap.

Even w/all my reading recently since the problems in Japan, I didn't catch that the iodine didn't protect for the other types of radiation.  Oh well, we're all gonna die someday  d*  At least the Japanese eat a lot more foods w/iodine in it - although it won't protect them from the rest.

We stopped eating iodized salt a few years ago when we started using RealSalt from Utah.  No iodine in that!

Seems to me, back in the hills a lot of old people got goiter from not eating Iodized salt.
These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

Yes, goiter is seldom seen amongst people living near a sea coast just because of the iodine that gets into the air from sea water.  I have a branch of ancestors from Iowa, and during the 1800's there are anecdotes about various family members with goiter.

My great grandmother from Minnesota had goiter...
