War on Drugs
War on Drunk Driving
War on Terror
Etc.
It's always something that is easy to justify. Now they are taking over websites because they promote file sharing. I wonder what news sites will be next?

Following on the heels of this week's domain seizure of a large hiphop file-sharing links forum, it's clear today that the U.S. Government has been very busy. Without any need for COICA, ICE has just seized the domain of a BitTorrent meta-search engine along with those belonging to other music linking sites and several others which appear to be connected to physical counterfeit goods.

Yeah....but they do it with artful, patriotic, colorful official seals  ;)

What's funny about it is they aren't actually taking over the websites, just the domain names.  The sites are still up and the owners are registering their domain names with companies that are outside the US.

Yep!
The FCC really wants to be able to control content on the net. My guess is this is a first step to censorship like China's. It's to keep us safe though. >:(
I guess Obama is getting tired of being called a .........What's that they call him again? ???

And this MUST be in place before the next election so he can be King.

Where and how does one draw the line with any illegal activity. File sharing if the files being "shared" are CD's DVD's or other intellectual property that is not free from the author/owner to begin with is not sharing, it is a form of theft. "Sharing" most music, movies, etc. is no different from someone buying one of John's plan sets and then offering copies for sale on ebay or someplace.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

That's true Don but the site mentioned was NOT a file sharing site. It had no files whatsoever. It just had links to some sites that did share files.
Should the Drudge Report be seized just because it links Wikileaks?

Should I be censored because I take video's of drug sales?

This is a long stretch for the Government.

All I've seen says real seizures...without legal warrants -- more illegal than sharing.
