my 32 x16 victorias cottage no additions will use 12 ' walls. at present the floor joist are done and  about half the sub floor is down and having tree felling ,site prep,septic ,temp electic.driveway post and piers behind me the carpentry is fun with visible results at the end of the day.  the weather will be closing in soon I am thinking of building 16 ' and drying it in using screws on the temporary mid point end wall.I would allow the for the staggering of subfloor .roof .and framing to tie everything together.This would allow me to work during bad weather and nights as the first section is where the bathroom kitchen and stairs will be. the advantages  seem to out weigh the moving of  parts of the end wall  as  stairwell and  up stairs partition will be permanent.  any thoughts?.

Why not? Sounds like a good idea.

In my home town was a family who built a house, but couldn't afford the whole thing at once.  They got the basement in, and the joists and subfloor, then tarpapered over the floor until the next year, when they had more money.

Of course, zoning, etc.,  was minimal in those days!
