I am trying to find out the labor cost to build a simple carport 28 X 35. Can anyone tell me how to figure labor only cost?  ???

I think you'll find that difficult to do.  It really depends on a lot on how the structure is designed and how long it will take to build.

I would guess most "crews" of say four people charge around $100 an hour for labor (at least where I am).  Some crews will be more desperate than others and willing to work for less.

If you don't have a lot of building experience, you will probably find it hard to determine how many hours it would take to build.  I have learned that it ALWAYS takes longer than you think!!

Good luck!

This could vary greatly depending on a lot of different factors.  The hourly rate you are charged is usually built up of a number of things, such as the rate they pay their workers, the cost of benefits to those workers, amounts paid into entitlement funds like unemployment, or social security, they will also pass on some part of the cost of equipment they have purchased, liscencing and bonding costs etc.  As a really rough estimate, you could take the average going labor rate for that type of work in your area and multiply it by 2 to 2.5 and have a rough idea.  This info is assuming you hire some sort of proffessional contractors.

If you know the hourly rate it's a little easier.  Cost estimators usually have published guidelines such as $ or hours per square foot.
