Answer the following scenario with either (A) I'm lucky or (B) I'm unlucky.

You slip on some loose carpet on a stairway and fall down the flight of stairs, breaking your ankle.
Lucky or unlucky?

Lucky people believe they were fortunate they didn't break their neck.
Unlucky people believe that falling down the stairs is bad news no matter what happens.

I'm reading The Survivors Club. Very interesting book.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Funny.  I broke my right hand in two places a day or two before we were leaving on a cross country road trip and vacation.  I told the doc I was really glad that I broke my hand and not my leg because it would have been far worse to have been on crutches.  Also, I remember being glad that I had to wear a brace instead of getting it casted because it was still to swollen to cast before we left.  I don't know about lucky/unlucky, but perhaps that makes me an optimist?

Correct; optimists cope better when adversity strikes. "Lucky" people pay attention to their gut feelings and hunches. An optimists world is bright, whereas the "unlucky" expect things will always go wrong. When bad things have happened I've always said that things could be worse.

It's a good book.

:)I would go with 'lucky'   In the same vein, whenever I have been engaged in a "bad job", I have always responded with "I have done worse for less"-----
