I think you were playing with an idea like this once.
The new Bass Pro in Hanover has siding made out of 1 foot squares of bark. It has been pressed flat and as near as I can tell, is real.

These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

It is poplar bark, there are a lot of houses here in NC mountains with it. A builder down the road makes it as he clears land to build.

The building beside our house was sided in 1923 and just a few pieces have been replaced.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
