Just been receiving a new rash of Junk mail.  Seems that they have another approach to catch your attention.  Now they list a short phrase of a world event ie: Bus wreck in Texas, Russia invades Georgia, US citizens shot in China.  Then after opening it is some on-line pharmacy or impotence buisness soliciting your hard earned money. It is amazing what lengths people will go to.  This is proceeded by the senders name as a single name ie: Bob, Mary, Mary.  If enough names match your friiends names they are sure to catch you once in a while.

The problem is when you open one you are not sure what it contains. It might put your anti-virus sofware to the test. I get a fair amount of junk mail from people I know who think something is informative or cutsey and they need to pass it on to everyone they know. Obviously they have way too much time on their hands and need something constructive to do.
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

You just have to occassionally check it as there are some that reply to a E-mail that you have sent and are not part of your contacts and by just dumping you could loose that reply. Generally you can tell but once in a while you can't.  But usually you can distinguise as soon as you begin to open without fully opening to see the contents.

If I don't recognize it or didn't ask for it I usually give it the big X for delete without opening it. There is too much wierd stuff in the world.
In fact I just had a Norton screen pop up twice that said a recent attack on you coumputer was blocked while I was typing this. Go figure.

yeah most of my mail gets the delete... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...I have had to get my hard drive wiped and all the software installed from scratch before because of a virus... I err on the side of caution now.

I think once one of those mass mailings get's started the list get's harvested for future junk mails. I'm pretty reluctant to sign up for anything on the web anymore. The junk keeps arriving and then you have to opt out somewhere even if you never opted in on purpose.
