...to protect their veiws. I was amazed when I read this artical. How do you preseve the wilderness views of rich mountain home owners? Get the government to buy the land and protect it at taxpayer expense at only 3 times the cost. Wild lands in Montana are being converted into gated subdivisions for the ultra rich and to keep the views pristine us poor taxpayers are going to buy the land between the additons for tripple the going rate. By creating a shortage of land in this way the remaining land will sell for $100,000 an acre. Nice plan. How much you want to bet the public gets locked out of these newly protected areas they are going to buy?

Not much question there the way things are going.

This has already happened and it is out of control in the mountains in Western North Carolina... Some half acre lots in the mountains here with river access are selling for over a million dollars.

Hillside mountain land that was a couple hundred an acre ten years ago is now approaching $10,000 an acre if bought in bulk (100+)...This is the steep side land that is hard to work with... hard to build a house on or have a yard in...With no power and limited road access.

It is absolutely ridiculous
